Name of Chapter: Ali's Memory

"Inuyasha, there isn't much to go by," Miroku explained the next morning, standing around my kitchen table with Sango and my parents. I told them of plans to strike revenge on the Stu brothers (Modstu, Pudstu, and Nidstu). Nobody, child or adult, should have to be put through what Ali and I have been through. "We got that you were taken in an alley, transported in a type of cargo van, and put in what you describe as a chemistry room. Do you know how many places match that description alone?"

I growled softly, clenching my fists. "I know it's a shot in the dark. Those bastards need to be taken off the street, before a third person is tortured!" I breathed, trying to calm myself. I knew this would be hard, but I had to find some way to get rid of the Stu brothers. I do not want to hear about another human torturing/experiment.

"There is one more thing we can try," my father said tentatively. Miroku exchanged glances with my mother and Sango. I immediately knew what they were talking about.

Ali

"Oh, no," I exclaimed, in a hush voice. Kagome and the kids were in the living room, playing a game. I did NOT want Ali to remember those painful memories again, no matter what. She's just a child! She should enjoy being one, which includes forgetting what happened to her.

"Who knows," Sango started while biting her lip. That's her nervous habit I have come to know these last few days. "Ali might have picked up something you didn't. Her brain is more perceptive to stuff like that."

"No, and that's final!" I pounded my fist on the table; it cracked but did not break. I saw Sango and my mother jump at the impact.

"She has a point, Inuyasha," Miroku added, ignoring me. "It's worth a shot. If she did remember something like that, we are one step closer for you and Ali being human again."

"No, this is ridiculous! We'll find another way. There has to be another way." I turned to my mom, trusting her motherly instinct to back me up. "Mom, please tell me you are on my side. I do not want to put her through those memories again. Please?"

My mother looked at her hands, they were shaking.

Oh no, I thought, she's on their side.

"Inuyasha, do you remember when you were little, about eight," my mom started, breathing deeply. "We went to this really big garden, filled with every plant and flower imaginable. I loved it so much in there."

I nodded, remembering that day. What does that have to do with anything?

"Well, we stayed there the whole day, until close. I was so focused on the beautiful plants and flowers that I forgot where the exit was. There were no maps nearby and I had lost ours. We wandered around for a few minutes; I didn't recognize anything where we were. You did, however.

"You saw the little things that I missed out on. For instance, where the water spots were, where a certain statue was and how to get there. You led us out in no time. I was so proud of you."

I growled more, "That doesn't prove anything. I just wasn't interested in the flowers like you were. No, I am not allowing Ali to get into this. She's just a child!"

"Inuyasha."

We all looked towards the kitchen entrance. There stood Ali, clutching an old teddy bear of mine that I gave her. She looked so small and when she looked at me with those big silver eyes, I saw tears. My heart went to my stomach.

"What's wrong, Ali," I asked, bending down to her level.

"When will I see my mommy? I want my mommy," Ali cried and my heart broke. I hadn't thought about her mother.

"Soon," Kagome said, coming into the kitchen and kneeling to her level. She wrapped her arms around Ali in a hug. "But you have to be strong for us, okay? Inuyasha and everybody else are trying to find those bad guys. Once we do, we'll find your mommy. In the meantime, you got to be strong."

"I just want my mommy." Ali cried, putting her head on Kagome shoulder and sobbing uncontrollably. Kagome caressed her back and muttered soothing words to her.

I looked at my parents and friends. They were right. Ali might be our only key to taking down the Stu brothers, and giving her back to her mother.

"Can I help," Ali asked, wiping a few tears away a while later.

"Yes, you can, Ali," Miroku replied, pulling out a chair. "We need you to tell us what happened the day you were taken from your mommy. Can you do that? It might help us find those bad guys."

Ali slowly nodded. "Mommy and I were at the park, playing pat-a-cake…"

"Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, bakers man, bake me a cake as fast as you can." Ali's mother sang, clapping hands with her daughter with each beat. "Roll it, pat it and mark it with a B, put it in the oven for baby and me." Ali and her mother giggled as they clapped faster with each chorus. Finally, the song was finished and they laughed more.

Ali mother, Kizashi, sighed, looking at the bright blue sky and the birds singing. Suddenly, her stomach rumbled in hunger.

"Oh my," she said, looking at her daughter. "I forgot the lunch basket. Will you be alright if I go to the car and retrieve it, Ali?"

"Yes, mommy," Ali replied, smiling brightly at her.

"You're such a sweet girl. I'll only be a few seconds."

Ali nodded, smiling at her mother as she walked away. She didn't know at the moment, it would the last time for a while before she ever saw her again. She picked up her favorite dolly and began humming a lullaby her mother would always sing to her at night before she fell asleep.

"Hello, little girl."

Ali looked up to see a strange man with brown hair in a bun with piercing green eyes, wearing jeans and short sleeve gray t-shirt with black sneakers. He smiled at her, showing his teeth. Another man joined him. He had spiky blue hair and yellow cat like eyes, with fangs to match. He wore a red muscle shirt and black jeans and black combat boots.

Ali backed away, remembering what her mother had told her about strangers.

"What are you doing here all alone?" The man with the cat eyes asked her, looking around their surroundings. He smiled, seeing no one.

"Leave me alone." Ali whispered, hugging a doll to her chest. "My mommy will be back soon!"

Both of the men smiled. "Excellent."

Before she knew it, they hit her small neck and she blacked out.

Ali sniffed, wiping away her tears as she told us the story. With every little tear, my heart ached. I looked at all the people gathered in my kitchen. Miroku was taking notes; Kagome had Ali in her lap as she told us her story. My mom and Sango were listening intently while my father was leaning against my counter.

I wish I could make her pain stop. I wish I knew where her mother was, so I could reunite the two. She must be so worried about her young daughter.

"What happened next, Ali," Miroku asked, his pen poised to write more.

"I woke up in a big metal van." Ali replied, worrying a Kleenex in her hands. "It was really bumpy."

"Owie," Ali moaned, waking up. She opened her eyes and saw a big metal roof with a pink stripe going down the middle. She took a deep breathe, suddenly smelling flowers. Before she could process anymore, the vehicle hit a sharp bump and hit her head, knocking her out again.

When she came to again, she felt metal underneath her back. She tried moving her arms but found they were bound by thick scraps of looked like fabric. She cried out, trying to free her arms but it was no use, the fabric wouldn't budge.

"Oh, you're awake, little girl." The man with the green eyes said, approaching her. He smiled.

"Let me go," Ali screamed, thrashing violently. However, it was no use. The fabric was tight around her tiny wrists.

The man laughed, being joined by another man she did not recognize. He was wearing all black, aside from his greasy green hair. Fear immediately ran through Ali's small body, paralyzing her.

The man with yellow cat eyes appeared, holding a rock that was glowing pink.

"Wh-wha-what do you want with m-m-me," Ali stammered, her heart beating with fear.

"You're our experiment, little girl," the man with the greasy green hair said, smiling. "Since our other experiment failed."

In an instant, they had her pink shirt ripped and the rock on her stomach. Pain immediately ripped through her tiny body, making her blackout.

The last thing she saw was a flyer with flowers on it, next to a pair of shears.

Mommy, Ali thought drifting into the blackness.

"And they dumped you once they figured you were half demon," I said, concluding Ali's story. We all knew what happened next.

Ali nodded.

I was about to reply but was cut off by my phone ringing. I looked at called I.D, seeing it was Rin.

"Hello, Rin," I answered.

"Inuyasha, Sesshomaru is missing."
