The last chapter, wow only took me like 9+ years to finish this thing. But I promised myself I would. Hope I don't disappoint anyone.
Chapter 18: The End.
Everyone stood still as they stared at the ripped off head of the Sentinel, Superman and Vision both turned and looked from where the head came from. They used their enhanced sight to peer into the smoke and destruction. They both saw that Hulk was fighting many Sentinel's and military personal. J'onn and Emma Frost both closed there eyes in pain, they felt anger at levels they never imagined possible coming from one person.
Superman spoke up. "We should go and help him before he gets killed." Logan spit on the ground.
"Let him die he can distract those Sentinel's for us." Logan said as he remembered his first meeting with the Hulk years ago. Deep in the forest of Canada, Department H had sent him in to stop the menace. Batman normally would have disagreed with Logan, but he shared his memories and knew what the Hulk was capable of. He would turn on friend or foe when enraged.
Ororo's eyes turned hard on Logan, she knew he could be cruel but what he said was plain wrong. Captain America spoke up, "He is an Avenger, we look after our own." he hissed at Logan, Logan simply raised an eyebrow.
"Well Bub I'm not. Go and try stopping that monster, good luck because your going to need it." Logan spit back. Captain America's lip curled up, Bruce Banner was a loyal and good man even if his Hulk half was unpredictable at times.
"Avengers Assemble," Captain America said as he continued glaring at Logan, Logan stared back in challenge. Batman stepped in front of Logan's face.
"Enough Logan, we have bigger problems than bickering." Batman said stoically, Logan rolled his eyes and turned away from Bruce. Batman turned to Captain America. "Everyone on Captain American, expect from my team."
Batman pulled out a P.D.A. Most of the emails where coming from a place in the south-side of St Louis. Batman pointed in the opposite direction the main group were heading. "We have to go that way," he said as he placed the P.D.A back in one of his pouch.
As everyone started to follow Captain America sans Batman, Ororo, Wonder Woman and Wolverine. Batman spoke out to one of the retreating heroes. "Ralph your with us." he called out to Elongate man. He shrugged his shoulders and returned to the smaller group. They wasted little time watching the others go to help Hulk.
Hulk was in the middle of the street being peppered with lasers and gun fire. It fueled his rage more, with a jumped and kicked he sent a truck at the group of human's firing at him. It caused the group to duck or be taken out by the flying truck. He than jumped and attacked the closest Sentinel. He smashed through the metal head like it was tissue paper. The giant robot fell to its knees and stopped working.
He hopped to the next before the mighty robot even hit the ground. One after one Hulk was tearing Sentinel after Sentinel in his path apart.
Sebastian Shaw watched on a large monitor as his power forces were being ripped to shreds. He turned and looked at the only weapon he had that might stopped the Hulk. "Jean my heart would you..." he stopped as he saw she need more medicine. She looked confused and none responsive to him. He pulled out the syringe and quickly injected her with his magical elixir. In a few moments she would be under his control. He watched as the fluid worked through her system. He eyes lite up and she smiled at him.
"Jean dear we have a very large problem in the downtown section, would you be a dear and take care of it." Sebastian smiled sweetly at her.
Jean nodded her head like an obedient puppy and made her move to leave. "Love you my sweet." he called out as she blushed and sent him a kiss. Causing him to smile.
Bruce and Logan sat on the outstretched body of Ralph as Diana and Ororo holding his arms flew westward as directed by Bruce with his scanner in hand. "Glad to be with you." Ralph's stretched neck wobbled in the wind next to Bruce's "But was I brought along only as a swing?"
Bruce ignored him as he pointed at a large facility in the distance. "There." he pointed. His lip raised to a sneer. The building's had many radio towers and satellite dishes everywhere. That had to be the master command center for the Sentinel's, where Sebastian Shaw would send out commands to all the giant robots around the world. Wonder Woman and Storm started there decent, but without warning the ground started to light up with shots fired at them.
Both Diana and Ororo moved in different directions causing Ralph to slip from there hands. As the three men fell to the ground Ralph wrapped the two other males and created a ball around them. The landing was rough but no one was seriously hurt. Especially with Logan and now Bruce's accelerated healing they could have managed without him.
Storm unleashed a hail of lighting bolts as Diana flew in and started to smash the stationary artillery guns. The two ladies met up a few minutes later and smiled at the damage they caused. The three men walked towards the two and the girls gave them a smirk.
"Yeah yeah," Logan rolled his eyes. Damn he loved this woman. But he stopped and gave her a quick searing kiss.
The five entered the building surprised that no other guards were there. Those guns must have been totally automatically controlled, but by what? Bruce thought.
Fifty Sentinel's firing full blast finally had Hulk pinned to the ground as hundreds more moved towards there location. His healing factor couldn't keep up with the intense burning and destroying of his skin and muscles. He would be destroyed in another minute or so from the damage his body was taking. Suddenly a few of the outer Sentinel's blew up than more as the Avenger's, Justice League and X-Men made there presence felt.
Thor landed next to the groaning Hulk as his skin finally healed. "You alright friend?" he asked. But suddenly was sent flying into one of the destroyed building from the fist of Hulk. Hulk stood up and was mumbling to himself. As if someone was in contact with him.
Superman was about to fly down and help Thor even with all that Kryponite lying around. But than Hulk jumped into the air heading west. Superman was going to follow him but was distracted by laser and sonic blast's below him. He watched feeling helplessly hovering up in the air as his team and the Avengers and X-Men fought those giant robots.
The battle field was littered with hundreds of robot parts. Surprisingly the team's worked well together. They had split into equal numbered sub-teams and were haven't very little trouble with the wave after wave of Sentinel's showing up, since those sonic guns made short work of them.
Ralph slipped under the main door to the facility and opened it up from the four others. Batman typed a few commands on his PDA and waited. "Which way?" Logan toothy smile showed he was ready for action.
"North." Batman said but was interrupted by a few shots being fired at them.
"Bring it on." Logan unsheathed his razor sharp claws and charged at the security guards shooting at him. He took out the first closest few causing the rest to ran off from there lives. "Chickens." Ralph stared opened eyed at the crazed Wolverine.
With Batman's directions and very few guards they made there way deeper into the complex. Until they found a set of double swinging doors. The name plate on top of it read 'Command Center'.
Logan kicked the doors open expecting lots technicians running around, but all he saw was a large room with high ceilings and roll after roll of display monitor's, keyboards and seats littering the room. The group of heroes swiftly moved forward. They could hear voices over the hum of the computer's, but couldn't make out what or who was saying anything.
When they rounded the corner they all stopped at the sight in front of them. There stood in front of a larger console was Magneto, and one other behind him. There was also a man in a wheel chair in front of the massive console.
"Magneto!" Logan growled out as he charged forward. He froze instantly once Magneto raised his hand up.
"You son of a bitch, how could you work with them?" Storm yelled as her eyes started to glow with energy. Before Storm or the even the faster Diana could react a female blinked next to her and hit Ororo in the back of the head knocking the powerful pissed off Storm out. Diana sneered at the female and was about to charge her when she simply blinked away and appeared next to Magneto.
Both Batman and Wonder Woman started to move forward but suddenly couldn't move. "Interesting, I can sense adamantium in you sir, however I've never felt such metal's as you my lady." Magneto looked and sounded surprised.
"Take him out Ralph." Batman command.
Ralph stretched forward since he was the only one that could move on his own accord. Magneto projected a shield around his group as Elongate man reached them. He bounced harmlessly off it. "Your all to late to stop me, nothing can now." Magneto boasted. Just than a large crash was heard on the far left side of the room as the roof collapsed. A large thud was heard. Something big started to smash it's way towards the two groups. As the final wall of computer terminals few out of the way, there stood. HULK!
Magneto released his hold on his soon to be victims and focused on Hulk. Logan and Batman charged forward towards Magneto seeing there opening. Magneto used all the shard of metal laying around the half destroyed room and peppered the Hulk with it. Causing the mighty beast to growl out.
Both Logan and Batman froze once they got close enough to Magneto. There in the wheel chair was Charles Xavier, but he was full of wires and cybernetic implants and seemed to be plugged into the main computer console.
Hulk marched forward towards the now panicking Magneto. "Blink get us out of here." he command as Blink and himself vanished in a pink explosion of light. Hulk continued towards the three men. Logan had fought a crazed Hulk before. But this time he saw something that made his blood run cold.
His eyes were not focused and there were nearly blood red. Batman said "Stop him Diana." as he moved towards Xavier to see what Magneto did.
Diana flew into action. She knew of this creature from her debriefing by Bruce of this Universes Meta's/Mutants . Diana hit the giant green man with all her might. Sending the massive monster into the ground. Diana rubbed her hand as if it was hurt.
"Just like hitting Clark." she said as she shook her hand. Then suddenly a huge green hand grabbed her foot. Hulk pulled himself back up and started to slam Diana's body back and forth on the ground. The dazed and confused Diana tried to fight back.
Hulk than grabbed a hold of Diana by the waist and started to apply pressure. Diana felt like she was in a huge vice. Using what strength she had left she smashed her fists down on his wrists.
During all this Batman was mere inches from Charles face looking at the implants, trying to disconnect him from the computer. He swear he hurt him say "I command you to kill me Hulk."
Wolverine jumped into the fight now since Diana couldn't get Hulk to release her. With a grunt Hulk knocked the final wisps of air from Diana's lungs. Darkness followed the Amazon Princess. The now limp Diana was tossed aside as Wolverine stuck his claws into Hulk's back.
"Pick on someone your own size bub." Wolverine taunted. Hulk reached around and grabbed Wolverine by the head and flipped him over to face him. "We've done this dance before, you can't win." Wolverine smiled at the crazed beast.
Suddenly Wolverine was being hit in the head so many times his vision blurred from the impacts. He couldn't think straight as his brain was taking damage quicker than it could heal. Hulk continued to smash him until he too went limp in his hand. Ralph now stepped up to the plate.
He wrapped himself around the massive creature but was surprised when he just simply moved forward towards Batman and Charles Xavier. Ignoring the stretchable hero wrapped tightly around him. He tightened his hold but still the monster moved on-ward's. "Clark I need you NOW!" Batman said.
Just as the massive green hand was about to grab Batman, Superman appeared flying through the hole in the ceiling. "Get him out of here." Batman told the man of steel. Moments later a very confused Ralph was slammed into the wall. The force of impact by Superman on Hulk was so great that Ralph lost his hold of the Hulk and was sent flying against the wall.
Superman flew the two skywards. Can't fight without air. Superman though. But was sent flying back to the ground when Hulk smashed his back. Hulk crashed landed next to the Man of Steel. "Grrr!" all Superman hear causing him to jump to his feet.
Two of the strongest none godlike beings stared at one another. Hulk was the first to move forward. His movements were slow but powerful. Superman at first tried blocking the blows. But the creature strength equaled or was greater than his own. It's like fighting Doomsday! Superman thought. Superman was about to blitz him with his Super-speed but found himself in the death grip of Hulk's over-sized hand. Superman grabbed his large thumb and used his all his might to break free.
Time to end this. Clark thought to himself. He launched himself into the air and shot off . Hulk stare up at the vanished hero. He than turned his attention back on the building in the distance. Don't let me kill humanity Hulk, don't let what happened to Betty happen again. The mind voice of Charles Xavier who had been communicating with him for the past few weeks said.
Hulk was about to jump back into action when something hit the beast with such a powerful blow that it sent the monster downwards into the ground. Hundreds of feet into the Earth.
Bruce heard than felt the giant boom. I hope your okay Clark. He thought as he started to carefully unplug the now blinking Charles. Bruce swore to himself that Charles was smiling now as his body started to convulse. Damn it Bruce thought as he must have unplugged the wrong wire. Storm came up to him staggering.
"Is he okay?" she asked.
Bruce ignore her as he worked on the circuit now that seemed to be fused. Damn it NO! Bruce screamed in his mind. It was like watching Alfred in this position. With all of Logan's memories he was watching a man he saw as a father figure die. Than a thought came to him that didn't seem to make sense. Circuit breaker.
"Zap him some electricity Ororo!" Batman commanded.
Without questioning the man Storm called her elemental powers and gave Charles body a jolt of energy. Whatever it did caused the man to stop jumping around. He seemed to stop moving. Bruce took off his glove and felt his neck. There was a pulse! He looked at the display and saw it said 'Master Link Interrupted'.
Bruce moved Charles wheelchair out of the way and looked at the display. On the display there was a list of commands. He saw at the very bottom of the list was 'Auto-destruct'. Could it be that simple? He thought as he sent the command. Within moments it was like a wave was sent out from the building. Sentinel after Sentinel froze than they started to power up and within moments would blew up.
Diana and Logan finally stirred. Diana's rib's hurt but she could breath again. The cobwebs in Logan's mind were gone and he could think straight.
Superman came flying in. He looked tired but was unharmed. "Whatever you did for miles those darn Sentinel's are blowing up." he told the group. Bruce let out a breath he had been holding. Was it finally over?
The ground moved as a green hand emerged from the ground. The Hulk pulled himself to a standing position. The dazed and confused look on his face was gone. Charles hold on him was over once Charles passed out. Hulk's shoulders slumped and he fell to his knees. The stress of not sleeping finally over came the green giant. Hulk slouched over and fell asleep, his body started to return to his human Bruce Banner form.
The Justice League, X-Men and Avengers that were fighting the Sentinel's outside cheered when they saw those giant robots blow up around them. Everyone cheered as the human forces of the Hellfire Club retreated after seeing there big guns destroyed.
Flash smiled at Northstar and raised his hand for a high five "We did it." Flash proclaimed. To everyone's shock that were watching Jean-Paul placed his hands on both sides of Flash's face and kissed him passionately on the lips. Flash froze for a total of five seconds an eternity for the fastest man a life. Jean-Paul broke the kiss and smiled sweetly at Flash.
"Woh Dude, what are you doing?" a shaken Flash questioned Northstar.
"Ackzing on ze tension I feel between us?" blinked a confused Northstar.
"I Like Girls."
"Oh..." the embarrassed hero turned his head away from Flash.
Flash seeing the red sadden face of Northstar said "It's okay, if I was into dudes I would be so all over you... Friends?" Flash extended his hand to him.
"Qui." Northstar took the extended hand and shook it. The dust filled scene was interrupted by a fiery light that turned the dusk time nearly to daytime flashed to there left.
There hovering in the distance was the Phoenix. The ground shook as the Phoenix moved closer to the heroes. Sebastian watching from one of the only camera's operating in the area sneered at the monitor. "Kill them all! Make them pay for destroying my beautiful Sentinel's." He hissed.
Jean landed on the ground and stared at them menacingly. Rogue looked at her once friend and saw nothing there but hate in her eyes. "Oh Sugar what has happened to you?"
"I had my eyes opened to the evil you people possess." she spit out. Out of the crowd a lone figure moved forward.
"Jean?!" Scott Cyclops Summers spoke to her.
"NO!" Sebastian screamed at the display monitor.
Jean's demeanor faltered as the flames of the Phoenix shrank slightly around her. "Scott." she whispered.
"It's me my love." he walked towards her. He neared the flames, the heat would normally ignite him but she allowed him in. The two stared at one another as memories flooded Jean's mind. The Drugs, the destruction and death of so many people. Him! Jean's eyes turned hard for a moment. But softened once Scott kissed her. The flames of the Phoenix dissipated as she finally returned to normal and passed out from the stress of the drugs in her system and fighting off the Phoenix.
Scott held her in his arms and the heroes gathered around. Another emergency averted.
Sebastian turned and started to run from his office. He needed to get as far away as he could. All his plans for world domination were in ruins. No Sentinel's and now no Jean. He turned the corner and suddenly was shoved hard against the wall. A twisted metal chair pinned him to it.
"Leaving so soon." Magneto asked.
Sebastian smiled at the man and woman standing next to him. "They will come for me and you, might as well let me go." he taunted.
"True, but I'm ready for them. As for you your little empire is gone. All your Hellfire club is gone. And now your head is about to be gone." Magneto smiled as he turned and nodded at Blink.
Sebastian's eyes enlarged as Blink smiled at the man and opened a portal around his head. "Please N..." was the only words hear before his headless corps was left behind.
"Now that little side business is over, back to Genosha." Magneto commanded as the two disappeared in a pop of pink light.
Batman in Diana's arms and Wolverine in Storms came flying by the gathered heroes, Superman gave Elongate man a ride back to the group but quickly retreated once the kryponite started to effect him. Wolverine marched over to Flash.
He pointed his finger at the man. "Do a recon of the area, find Sebastian Shaw. Check the most expensive looking places!" he growled. Flash nodded his head rapidly and took off. Storm was tempted to give Logan a bit of his own treatment. But seeing everyone so relaxed for once took that edge off her temperament.
Captain America was talking on the comm when Batman showed up next to him. He listened in as Captain America talked to it sounded like Nick Fury. "Yes sir, looks like we stopped them here... Great... Will do sir... Out." Captain America turned to the man in black.
"What ever you did has ended the Sentinel's, what little human resources left are surrendering to Agents of Shield. Thanks for you help." Captain America reached his hand out. Batman looked at it and took the offer hand for a shack.
"Looks like you have a lot of work a head of you rebuilding." Batman stated as he looked around at the nearly destroyed city around them.
Captain America nodded. "We are use to it." Batman had to agree when Superman or Diana or any other of the meta powered heroes or villains went off in there world they had to pick up the pieces afterwards. Wayne Construction had been booming these past five years since he joined the league.
"We will be going home." Batman said curtly.
"Not before we have a beer bub." Logan said as he walked towards the two men.
"I don't..."
"You can now." Causing Bruce to give him a sideways glance. With his now super healing power a simple beer wouldn't even effect him. The two started to walk off but there were interrupted by the slight wind of Flash stopping in front of them.
"Found him... most of him." the somber Flash said as he handed Wolverine a business card sided piece of paper, it was Sebastian Shaw's drivers Licences.
"Most of him?" Batman questioned.
"Without a head." Flash stated causing Wolverine to smile.
"Good." he handed Flash the drivers licence's back and slapped Bruce on the shoulder. "That Beer is still waiting." Flash took it back and looked around not knowing what to do with it.
Diana watched the interaction between the three and was going to see what was happening, but paused when she saw that Bruce and Logan walked off alone. But Ororo stopped next to her and saw the confused look on the Amazon Princess face.
"Guy time." Ororo said. Diana sighed and nodded as Thor walked up to her and gave her a smile.
"Up to test Asgardian might vs Amazon strength?"
Diana's eyes flash with the challenge.
Batman and Wolverine walked a few blocks and found an abandon bar. They could smell the beer coming from the broken bottles littering it. Logan poked around until he found two unbroken ones.
"Hmm Miller... it will do." he tossed one to Bruce. Bruce set up his flipped over chair and took a heavy seat. The chair creaked but held up. Logan did the same and flipped his own chair to a standing position.
"So this will probably be the last time we meet." Logan stated.
"Unless one of our Universe's needs us again." Bruce twisted the cap off. He took a swig and the beer. Warm, not to his liking but it was refreshing.
"Hopefully we can take care of our own without the other's help." Logan took a gulp of beer and was quiet for a while.
"Funny thing. When this accident happened I thought great I have more fucked up memories. But..."
Bruce stared at him and nodded and finished what he was thinking. "But now I have a brother I never had." The two looked at one another than clanked their beers together before finishing them off.
"You look after legs or I will come and find you." Logan gave him a toothy smile. Bruce smirked at that thought, it would be one hell of a blood bath. For both.
"Now get your ass out of my Universe... Brother."
Bruce stood up and was about to exit the bar when Logan extended his hand. The two shook each others hand.
Several hours later. Diana sat on the examining table in the Batcave and was rubbing her slowly fading black eye. Having returned only fifteen minutes ago to their Universe. Thor could give as much as he take. She thought to herself. To bad he was a lot slower than her. Bruce sans he costume in a simple shirt and jeans was looking dearly at the bruised eye. It looked fine and would be gone by morning.
"Good fight lucky I just saw the ending." Bruce as he was about to turn around. Diana trapped him with her dangling legs.
"It was and he is sooo good-looking as well don't you..." Diana teased, Bruce's eyes turned hard but softened as he brought his lips to hers interrupting her teasing. Diana exhaled her held breath. Damn he could make her toes curl with just a simple kiss.
"Goodnight Princess." Bruce somehow had manoeuvred out of her grasp and started to make his way up to the manor. Diana launched herself on to his back and kissed his neck.
"Not without me." Bruce carried her on his back as they made there way up to his room.

Wow what a long time to write one story. Just a few points about this ending. One sorry for the none descriptive battle with the heroes and Sentinel's. The simple reason is I forgot who was there and not there. Damn DC and Marvel have a lot of characters. Two I would love to thank DaisyJane and Lady Isis for there input and help. Without them this story never would have been told.
Thirty five years in the future.
Diana walked past a small group of new recruits. Massive Wave a husky sized new member whistled at her retreating derriere. 'Snikt' three razor sharp claws pressed dangerously against his throat. "Rule one... Respect your elders... punk." Batman hissed at him. Massive Wave looked about to crap his pants.
"Sorry." he whispered. The claw's retracted back as Batman walked away. Superman landed next to him.
"You know he was just trying to show off to the other recruits." Superman said "He'll probably not have to shave for a week." causing a smirk from the Dark Knights lips.
"Speaking of time, thirty five years dating and no proposal?" The slightly greying Superman said causing the man in black to stop.
"We're taking our time." Batman said as he continued walking. Superman stood their shacking his head. Same old Bruce.
Fade to Black.
