Chapter twenty. Amaterasu Enters
Amaterasu stared at the bridge. It was just one of those days where everything seemed to turn against him. The bridge wasn't very big. It was ten feet long and three feet wide. Water rushed underneath it. What made matters worse was it did not have wooden hand rails.
The samurai grumbled in frustration. He wiped his red armor. Sadly, not even his trusty sword with his favorite red jewel in the hilt could help him. His black hair swayed in the wind. Even though he looked human, he was a demon. You could tell by his red eyes and his clan symbol being a white wolf.
'Damn, another bridge. Last time a goblin wouldn't let me pass unless I gave him money. Now, it just doesn't seem safe at all. No goblin this time, but an even greater enemy….water.' He thought as he combed his fingers through his long, shiny black hair. He pondered whether to cross the bridge or go farther up to find a safer looking one.
"Screw it. Im going over the bridge." He said. He shook his head of hair and started toward the bridge.
While he was chanting 'don't fall, don't fall, don't fall' over and over again in his head, a small white wolf pup ran past him. He stopped at the end of the bridge and turned around to look at Amaterasu. He woofed and started to lick his paw. Amaterasu stared for a moment then screamed.
"Oh my god! A white wolf! The symbol of my clan! I am in your debt, clan of white wolf." He then bowed toward the little pup. But, just like a long days work, his armor was too stiff to bend and he fell into the water below. He screamed nooooooooo!" but it was too late. He started to fizz and a mist formed around him. The pup got scared and ran off when the fizzing escalated.
When the mist and the fizz finally stopped, a red rain cloud was floating above where Amaterasu was in the water. It floated away from the water and sighed. "Damn…not again. Im too young to turn into a cloud every time I get drenched. Oh the humanity of it all!" Amaterasu yelled. He started to shake and cry, making raindrops fall to the ground. Of all the weaknesses of the clan, he had to get the silliest and unfortunate one. When he gets wet, he becomes weak. Too much wetness and he turns into a red cloud. He only turns back to himself when he dries off. That is why he has been traveling. He is trying to find a cure for his weakness. Some told that the weaknesses of the clan were made by a horrible demon called Naraku. If he could defeat him, then he could actually swim and take a better bath.
Over in the forest, the ugly toad Jakken was trying to find his lord. As usual, when Lord Sesshomaru came back to the camp, he took Rin, Ah, and Un with him. He tried to catch up to him, but he was too fast. Rin rode the dragon duo so she went as fast as Sesshomaru. He kept yelling, "Me lord, me lord! Wait for meeee!" but Sesshomaru just kept going, ignoring him. So here Jakken is; in the forest not knowing which way he went.
"Oh me lord. Why do you not wait for me? I am your humble servant. I have been serving you much longer than that brat Rin. Oh why have you left me me lord?!" he jumped up on a boulder and kept complaining.
He was just about to give up, when he looked up. He squinted his beady eyes and gasped. Up above him was a big red cloud. It was headed toward the mountains. Jakken jumped up and down for joy. "Me lord! Down here me lord! Please come get me!" but the cloud kept moving very fast. Jakken tried running toward it but tripped and fell into the mud. By the time he got up and rubbed the mud from his eyes, he didn't see any sign of the cloud. Jakken yelled to the sky and started stamping his feet.
After a dramatic scene of crying, yelling, and cursing his life, Jakken got up and remembered that he could use the staff of two heads to point him in the direction of his lord. He slapped his head and brought out the staff. He pointed it up in the air and did a chant. The two heads screamed and pointed to the west. Jakken smiled and started heading out to find Sesshomaru.
'Whew. That was a close one. What a damnable ugly creature. What the hell was that thing? That couldn't have been a frog. Frogs look a lot better then that guy. Maybe a mutant creature from the depths of hell. Oh well, at least he aint following me.' Amaterasu thought while flying toward the mountain. The crisp mountain air should dry him faster.
He landed on a cliff overlooking the forest. Well, more like hovered. He lowered himself toward the ground and sighed. 'Now its just a matter of time. I hope it won't take long. At least im safe. No sign of any danger. Thank goodness. I mean really, what can I do, smoke them to death? Obscure their vision to death?' He growled and settled into his new spot until he dries off.
Hours later, he jumped upright. He must have been asleep because it was already dusk. Crickets started to chirp. Amaterasu looked down and seen that he turned back into himself. He sighed in relief. 'Thank goodness that's over with. Now, I can continue on my long and painful journey.' He rose to his feet. He looked around and decided to go west.
Meanwhile, Miroku and Sango met up with Sesshomaru. Rin ran over to Kirara and picked her up. she squealed and hugged her. Ah and Un laid down under a tree. They laid their twin heads down and proceeded to take a nap. Sesshomaru looked at the monk. "I might be staying to protect you weaklings but I will not be near you. I will stay over here and settle down. If you try to talk to me or anything, I will kill you myself. And whatever you do, you better Never tell Inuyasha or the others that I am doing this." He sat down next beside another tree. Sango nodded.
"Thank you Sesshomaru. We will stay away from you. Come on, Miroku. Lets go." He complied and followed her.
Sesshomaru watched them leave. 'Pathetic humans. They can't do anything right.' He shifted his body around and nodded off to sleep.
At the river, Miroku stared at himself in the waters reflection. He sighed. He missed Kagome and the others. They have been gone for what seemed like months for him. Sango sat down next beside him.
"Whats wrong Miroku?" She asked. He looked up at her and shrugged. "I just miss Kagome. I wish their trip was over and they come back already." Sango patted his shoulder. "Don't worry. They will be here sooner than you think. It won't be much longer now." He smiled at her. He took her hand into his and looked into her eyes.
"Sango, I just love how you care about me. Would you bear my child?" Sango stared at him. She looked bewieldered, then angry. She ripped her hand away from his and smacked him. Miroku fell backwards onto the grass. Her handprint shined on his face like a real bad sunburn.
"I guess that is a negative…oww." He sat up and rubbed his face. Sango jumped up off the ground. "You are such a dirty monk. Do you ever think about anything else besides sex? I mean really, you need to get your mind out of the-"Sango paused. She turned her head around and glanced at the forest. Miroku stood up and looked at her. "Sango, why did you-""Sshhh. I hear something." Sango interrupted. She pointed toward the forest. Miroku looked over and listened. He didn't hear anything at first, but after some time, he faintly heart leaves crunching on the ground. Sango picked up her hiraikotsu while Miroku raised his staff, ready for battle if needed.
They tensed up as a samurai walked out of the forest. He had blood red gleaming armor on. On his waist was a golden sheath with a sword in it. Its hilt had a red jewel in it. He was almost six feet tall with jet black hair. It almost reached his shoulders. His eyes glowed red.
Amaterasu saw the two humans and removed his sword. He positioned himself into a fighting stance.
"You there, who are you humans?" he asked. Sango spat, "I am Sango, demon slayer, and this is Miroku, a spiritual monk. We slay any demon that tries to harm any village so you better leave before we attack." Amaterasu smirked. "Me? You think I would be a menace to humans? Do you know who I am? I am the great Amaterasu. Our clans' symbol is the majestic white wolf. We protect the weak! Our kind has been eradicating evil demons for hundreds of years! You dare threaten me?!" he jumped, sword pointed at Sango.
"Sango!" Miroku pushed her out of the way and blocked his sword with his staff. Amaterasu landed on the ground and continued the assault. They kept blocking each others attacks.
"Listen, samurai! If you protect the weak, why are you attacking us? We protect the weak too! Just stop this madness and lets talk!" Miroku dodged his sword and threw some sutras. Amaterasu jumped out of the way and landed in a tree. He looked down at the monk.
"Fine. Let's talk. I will stay right here in this tree." He sheathed his sword and sat down on one of the trees thick limbs. Miroku lowered his staff. He cleared his throat. "Well, like Sango said, I am Miroku. We travel the roads, slaying demons that threaten us or villagers. We do travel with others, but they are in the modern era. A girl called Kagome can pass through a well that can take her to our era and her future era. Yes it is crazy, but nothing is crazy in this world anymore. There is a white half breed dog that travels with us too. He is called Inuyasha. He has a temper, so watch out. The others that travel with us are Izumi and Ren, but they went with Kagome too. So, me, Sango, our demon fox kid Shippo, and Sango's demon cat Kirara are staying here in this village until they get back. Then, we can return to our journey to destroy an evil demon called Naraku."
"Naraku? I am also searching for this cur. He has cursed our clan with various weaknesses. He will not go unpunished for what he has done to us!" Amaterasu yelled, raising his gleaming sword toward the sky. "What did that bastard do to you all?"
"Oh, where to start. First, he took possession of Kohaku, Sango's brother, at this village that claimed it needed some demons slain and made him kill all of her demon slayer family. He almost killed her, which made Sango realize that he was being controlled. She raced toward the one that was controlling her. The soldiers fired arrows at her, striking her down, resulting in Kohaku returning to his old self. Naraku then made the soldiers that were at the castle fire arrows into Kohaku, killing him. They buried them, which later, Sango crawled out of."
"As for me, he has cursed our family with the wind tunnel. It is very powerful and can suck anything into it, but the more I use it, the more it spreads. Eventually, I will be sucked up into it if I don't kill Naraku."
Amaterasu pointed his sword at Miroku. "That demon has gone too far. He has killed countless thousands and tortures more. I swear on the great white wolf, I will kill him." Sango walked over to him.
"Well, why don't you join us? As you may can tell, he is ruthless and almost invincible fighting alone. With numbers, we may defeat him easier. Then, all of us can finally have our revenge." Amaterasu looked at her. He closed his eyes, smiled slightly, and sheathed his sword.
"You want me, the great Amaterasu, to join you in defeating Naraku?" She nodded. "Well, I guess I can't say no to an offer like that. I shall join you in the quest of slaying Naraku."
"Great! Why don't you come with us and meet some people we know?" Sango asked. Amaterasu nodded and they started to walk toward the village.
Sesshomaru raised his head up when he heard Miroku's voice. He glanced at the guy in the samurai suit and tensed up. He jumped up and zipped toward the intruder. He slashed out with his poisonous claws. The samurai dodged as he struct the ground. Rocks and dirt were uprooted and thrown in every direction. He quickly lept back as the samurai swung his sword.
"You demon! Leave this village alone or you shall surely perish!" Sesshomaru snorted. "You dare tell me what I should do? You're a fool." Both of the demons stood still, staring each other down.
"Amaterasu stop! He is Sesshomaru, Inuyasha's brother. While he is gone, Sesshomaru said he would watch us until he came back. He is no threat. Please, stop fighting!" Miroku yelled. But it was no use. They ignored him. They kept eyeing each other.
It seemed like an eternity went by. They were so engrossed on each other that they didn't notice the rain clouds. They swept over the village like ravage wolves, threatening a downpour.
A raindrop splattered on Amaterasu's shoulder. He glanced at his shoulder. He stared for a moment, and then looked up. He saw the darkened clouds overhead. He gulped. "Oh my go-"He didn't even finish his sentence when the clouds burst open. Rain pelted down on the poor youki. He sheathed his sword and started to run, screaming in frustration. Everyone watched in dismay as the samurai sizzled and popped. Fog surrounded him.
Finally, the fog cleared. What they saw puzzled them. In front of them, where the samurai once stood, a red rain cloud hovered.
"Son of a bitch. Not again!" Amaterasu yelled. His voice startled Sango. She turned her head to the side.
"…Is…that…you…Amaterasu?" The cloud appeared to look toward her. "Yes, unfortunately." Miroku walked up to the cloud. He poked it with his staff. "You are the samurai? But how?" The cloud growled. "Cut it out. I told you, Naraku cursed our village with different weaknesses. Mine happens to be when I get drenched with a lot of water, I turn into a raincloud until I dry off." Everyone stared.
Suddenly, everyone started to laugh. Miroku doubled over in laughter while Sango fell into Sesshomaru's arms. Even Sesshomaru was cracking up. He held Sango and they laughed together. Rin giggled and held on to Ah and Un. Even the dragon was amused.
"SHUT UP IT ISNT FUNNY!" The cloud yelled, little lightning bolts leaking out of him. That made the others laugh even harder.
In a shed close to them, Shippo and Kirara were laughing. They heard the whole thing. Kirara rolled around on the ground mewing with her eyes closed.
Amaterasu howled in anger and flew into the shed. Shippo got spooked and hid behind Kirara. The cloud hovered into a corner. Miroku and the others followed him into the shed, closing the door behind them.
"Oh man! Sorry bout that. It's just hilarious that you turn into a cloud." Miroku snickered. Sango and Sesshomaru finally quieted down. They looked at each other, then looked down. They saw that they were holding each other. They looked back up and blushed, then tore away from each other. Sango coughed.
"Yeah, we couldn't help ourselves. With everything that's been going on, it's a relief to laugh even for a little while. We're sorry." The cloud turned, apparently looking at Sango. He sighed.
"I guess its ok. You see why now I have to kill that bastard? He has cursed me with a ridiculous weakness. It gets annoying."
Miroku sat down. "Yes. He has also cursed me. And if we don't kill him soon, I will be sucked up into my wind tunnel. He causes nothing but pain and destruction wherever he goes. When Inuyasha and the others get back, we will resume our quest to kill Naraku!" Sango nodded.
"That bastard will pay for what he did to me and my family. There will be no mercy for him."
"When will they get back?" Amaterasu asked. Miroku thought hard.
"Hmmm… actually, I forgot. The days have been going by fast, so we haven't really been paying attention. Sorry." Amaterasu stared at them. They all smiled funnily and rubbed the back of their heads. The cloud sighed.
"Oh well, I guess Im stuck here until they come back…"
Demkra: Son of a bitch I am sick. I have been coughing nonstop for the past two weeks almost. It's been making me so weak and sleep for almost a whole day. Nothing works! Ive tried Nyquil, Dayquil, Mucinex, Robittussim, and some congestion pill.
Kag: What if you have something serious?
Demkra: my grandma says she thinks its bronchitis, but we have no money for a doctor.
Izu: But you have to get well! What about the Storys you made?
Demkra: I'll still try to do them.
Ren: I'm worried about you.
Demkra: Don't. I'm fine. I'll try to live with it unless it gets to the point where I can't breathe.
Everyone: (Staring at Demkra in concern.)
Demkra: What? Ok, I admit, I can't breath good already. But, we don't have the money to get insurance. If my favorite doctor was still here, I would go. Cuz she always gives us a huge discount.
Kag: Well, you should still go.
Demkra: …Fine. If we find a doctor that will hold a check, I will go. There, happy now?
Ren: Yep.
Demkra: ok, until next time, bye folks!
