Chapter 3: Homecoming

A/N: remember bold is flashbacks. :) I'll try to update this story as much as I can

"Engaged?! Wow that's awesome Summ" Marissa said faking a smile at her best friend, Ryan leaned in and hugged her and said, "It's really good to have you home, just in time" Marissa tilted her head, "For what?" Summer excitedly rushed in and said, "Our engagement party of course, as if I'd have one without my best friend" Marissa faked another smile and said, "Sounds great Summ, so are you all organised?" Summer nodded and said, "Come on let's get you back home, I'm sure you have missed it" The girls walked towards the luggage doors, where Seth was waiting holding a sign saying, "Cosmo Girl". "We said subtle Seth" Ryan said to his adopted brother. Marissa smiled and hugged him and said, "It's perfect Seth". He smiled and opened his arms to hug one of his best friends and said, "Missed you, the world of Orange County is very quiet without you" she smiled and said, "I've missed you too Seth, fill me in what's new?" He dug his hand into his pockets and mumbled, "Oh you know, Anna is working with me as a graphic designer for the latest comic we are releasing, hoping in stores by next fall" Marissa smiled and said, "I'm so proud of you".

The once inseparable foursome, seemed to have its differences and now with this news, Marissa felt this feeling that she didn't want to feel, but it was there. Ryan was supposed to be there waiting for her and Summer was supposed to be marrying Seth. "Your chariot awaits" Seth said, as they headed to the Range Rover that was parked. Summer signed and said, "Cohen, there is no way you are driving my Range Rover". Summer retrieved the keys from Seths hand. The car was pristine white with number plates "SGA088" the personalised number plates hit another nerve with Marissa.

The foursome got to the car, where Ryan smiled and said, "Never learnt to pack light hey Riss" she chuckled and said, "Never have, Never will" as he placed her suitcase and carry on into the boot of the car. Marissa hoped into the backseat of the car, where she sat behind Summer. Summer smiled and said, "You glad to be home Coop? What do you say trip to the diner, black and white milkshakes with chilli cheese fries?" Marissa put her sunglasses to fight back tears and said, "Home is great but I think I might just want to unpack first at home then maybe later?" Summer smiled and said, "Coop sounds perfect" Ryan turned around and smiled at her then fiddled with the radio, "Atwood! Cut it out" Summer said giggling. Ryan smiled at her and said, "Oh No Summy doesn't like my music" Seth let out a sigh and said, "Careful dude, she might drive us off the road" Ryan laughed at Seths comment and said, "Least I didn't insult death cab".

The radio announced, "Alright folks, here's a trip down memory lane with this old bad boy playing" the song came out and Marissa noticed the song and mumbled, "Just perfect" Seth said, "I haven't heard this song in years" Ryan said, "How do you even know it?" Seth said, "I'm partial to Youth Group they aren't no Modest mouse but still good"

The foursome pulled into Pelican Cove. Summer pulled into a driveway of smaller but modern version of Kirsten and Sandys. Marissa smiled and said, "Thanks guys, I'll call you Summ, I'm going to have a shower and unpack" Summer smiled and said, "Alright Coop, love you" Marissa mumbled, "Love you too Summ". Marissa got out of the car and walked got her luggage.

She waved at the three of them. Ryan waved and put his head down. Marissa headed inside. "What's up with Coop?" Seth asked as they drove out of the street. Summer said, "Cohen, don't call her Coop, sounds weird you calling her that" Ryan kissed Summers hand and said, "She'll come around, like we all have adjusted" Seth said, "Says the one who was never into public displays"
