Miracle
Disclaimer: Hiromu Arakawa is the owner of Fullmetal Alchemist, not me.
Edward Elric is an atheist. He never believes in gods, miracles, or anything related to the sort. He is a man of science, an alchemist to be precise, and only believes that everything can be explained by pure science.
However, only recently in his life, his firm belief starts to crumble bit by bit. Every morning, as his eyes start to open to acknowledge the presence of a new day, his sight catches an image that has always made him have second thoughts with his previous principles. A lovely creature, with hair as bright as the sunlight and skin as smooth as silk, lies beside him, sleeping. His eyes venture over her every curve and detail, savoring every bit of her. He reaches for her face, caressing her cheek ever so softly as if she were a fragile porcelain doll that might break under his touch. She stirs in her sleep and slowly opens her cerulean eyes to meet his bright golden ones. She smiled. A realization starts to dawn upon him. He smiled back.
Edward Elric is an atheist. He is also a man of science. But eventually he realized that perhaps not everything can be explained by pure science alone. He can never explain how such a beautiful being as Winry Rockbell can actually stay with him for the rest of their lives. He never believes in the existence of gods or goddesses but he starts to think otherwise. Maybe, just maybe, such divine beings do exist. As his sight remains to the charming person he lies beside with in bed, he starts to think of her as a proof to his theory. She's his guardian angel – his goddess – his miracle.
Author's notes:
Very short and fluffy, this is my first one-shot for my latest favorite pairing, Edward and Winry. Call me sentimental but I sort of got this idea while I was staring into the sky thinking about how miraculous it is still living and breathing under the same blue sky or something like that. Then somehow it clicked to my head that I should write something about it for a fanfic. I've been thinking for a while now that I should write something for EdxWin and this is how it came to be.
I'd also like to extend my warmest gratitude to Nyphetamine for editing my story, appreciating my work/s, giving tips on how I can improve on writing and a lot more! Thank you so much!
Reviews and constructive criticism are welcomed wholeheartedly! Flames are to be extinguished and avoided at all times. (Even Colonel Roy Mustang isn't welcomed to throw flames at me…bwahahaha! *coughs* *smiles widely*)
Thank you for reading!
