This is a one-shot, its part of a side-along story to Shades of Grey, although it's not really required reading to that story and can be on it's own.

Konoha Village didn't normally get heavy rain, least of all thunder and lightening.
However a man was standing in the middle of the village square, just wearing his purple top and light blue trousers; along with his sandals and if you looked closely you would see that he skin was almost absorbing the water that hit the bare skin.
He knew that being submerged in water was better for him; he could heal faster; as he had done when he was in the lab when Orochimaru was around. However, he had been in that tube of water for far too long. No way did he want to go back into that!
His silver hair clung to his scalp; he'd been out in the rain for too long, but it didn't bother him… The water wasn't going to kill him, it helped him.
"You homesick, Suigetsu?" A male voice spoke, and Suigetsu turned to see Sai, a pale skinned, dark haired Leaf ninja.
Grinning he shook his head, remembering what he had heard from the villagers when the rain had just begun, before it got to this level, with the lightning and thunder clapping around.
They all had the same idea of rain, that it made them feel sad, depressed and even miserable, but he couldn't understand that.
Maybe it was because he was from the Mist? It rained fairly often, and although the villagers found it annoying when it did rain, they never complained about it, at least not to the degree of saying how it made them feel. After all, without the rain the crops wouldn't grow and the rivers wouldn't be full of fish for them to eat!
He held out his arms, allowing more rain to drop onto his skin.
"What about…"
"You know Sai, for a guy who doesn't know how to… read people, you sure are asking me a lot of questions,"
Sai smiled good naturedly, knowing that this smile was real, and if it scared Suigetsu, well, that would be a first; "I'm getting better. But you can't be out here just for this,"
The silver haired nin looked over at Sai; "Guess we're more alike than most people actually think,"
The other raised an eyebrow in question.
Grinning once again, Suigetsu explained; "We don't know much about people… At least not outside out comfort-zone,"
Sai agreed with that, they were brought up to focus on killing their enemies, to complete missions; and if people had to be killed along the way then so be it.
However, Sai knew very well that Suigetsu was more adaptable; water can flow easily anywhere, but what was he?
As he continued to think, he became more and more aware of what was going on around him, the rain hitting the ground with a splish splosh; the roofs of the buildings around them getting a heavier sound of plip plop.
What had he been thinking of before? His eyes widened in amazement, he couldn't remember.
Suigetsu looked please with himself; finally it looked as if the Leaf nin was beginning to understand why he was outside; but he wasn't going to interrupt this moment, not yet. Not while the rain was still in the process of doing its job.
Tilting his head back, he breathed in deeply, this was what the rain was for; to forget the past.
Even if it was just for a moment.
