Sam Takes One for the Team

Sam backed up once, twice, three times to avoid the beast's swishing, reptilian tail. He steadied himself, tried for a clear shot, but the creature spun, leaving Dean in the line of fire.

The tail whipped in his direction again, Sam swore and stepped back. The fourth evasion proved one too many, ground crumbled beneath his feet. He met the dirty ditch water with a resounding splash.

He scrambled to sit up, wiping away the muck. A roar from above and the now-dead creature landed beside him in the ditch. He blinked at it, shrugged, reached for Dean's proffered hand.
