Author's Note: None of my work is beta'd so please be kind if you review. Also, the little factoid at the end of this fic is true…I just don't remember where I found it.

Disclaimer: I am an American; therefore, Doctor Who cannot possibly be mine.

When she watched her daughter and the new half-human Doctor walk hand-in-hand across Bad Wolf Bay Jackie was reminded of Wendy and Peter Pan.

While Rose was growing up, Jackie was always worried about the windows in the flat staying closed. She always told her daughter that it was for their protection. She would say "Ours isn't the safest council estate in London and we don't want anyone reaching in and taking ya away forever, now do we?"

She did the same in Pete's World.

Every night, after tucking Tony into bed, Jackie would walk around the mansion and made sure that all of the windows were firmly locked. After a few months she started to feel like Mr. and Mrs. Darling did in Peter Pan – terrified that something (or someone) would come and take her children away, or worse, that they would fly away and escape forever. It had happened to her once before and she didn't plan on it happening again. That year, the longest year of her life, the year her Rose had spent gallivanting around the universe with that first Doctor – it was the first time Jackie ever left the windows open. And she left them open. Up until that day at Canary Warf, she left them open so that she could keep an ear out for the TARDIS, so that Rose (and the Doctor) could always find a way back home.

She felt like the Darlings did back then, too.

After Tony was born, Rose's window was the only one that ever remained open. She could never close it, not when Rose spent her life searching for blue boxes and doorways to other worlds. A part of her knew that Rose would find a way back to her Doctor. It was only a matter of time and, she figured, if anyone deserved a happy ending it was the Doctor and Rose.

Peter Pan was the first book she ever read to Rose and it was also the first she ever read to Tony. However, like many other things she once thought were unyielding, the story was different here in Pete's World. Here, Barrie didn't change from his original ending, as the new Doctor had explained. Here, Wendy stays with Peter in Neverland and the two marry and spend the rest of their lives playing Mother and Father in their tree house.

When Jackie watches her and daughter and new son-in-law she decided she likes this ending better.
