Pony's Dream 2: The Aftermath
Pony slowly opened one eye, expecting to see a beautiful sunset on the beach, but instead got his own bedroom ceiling, with the stain that looked like Texas off to the side.
Pony shot up, surveying his surroundings. Everything seemed to be in place. Had it all been a dream?
"Pony?" Soda mumbled sleepily, looking up at his younger brother. "You okay?"
Pony looked down at Soda, his eyes widening, and his thoughts going back to man-eating cushions.
"Yeah, fine," he replied cautiously, laying back down.
Of course it was just a dream! He rolled his eyes at himself, snuggling under the blankets once more. It was too early for this.
Soon enough, he decided that it was time to get up. He was hungry.
He walked into the lounge, and saw Dally crashed out on the couch. He shivered, remembering giant tic-tacs.
Just a dream, he told himself silently as made his way to the kitchen.
He heard someone sit at the table. He turned, relieved that it was only Soda getting ready for work.
Dally stumbled into the kitchen, popping something into his mouth. He offered the little box to Ponyboy.
"Want a tic tac? Its spearmint."
The pan he was holding fell to the floor, Pony's eyes widened in shock. He quickly composed himself, picking up the pan.
"No thanks," he mumbled.
Its just a coincidence.
He was just serving eggs for himself, Soda, Dally and Darry when Steve strutted in.
"Hey ya'll," he drawled as he sat on the couch.
"Hey Steve," Soda replied, Dally only nodding in acknowledgement.
"Daisy sent me somethin' for my birthday," Steve said, referring to his cousin who had visited a few months ago.
"Oh yeah? What'd she send you?" Soda asked.
"Rubbers ducks," Steve replied. Pony froze. "And they're blue too. Not only is that the stupidest gift ever, I thought that they were meant to be yellow."
Another coincidence, Pony said to himself. He was not going crazy. Was he?
Darry entered the scene, his face splitting into a grin at the sight of food on the table.
"Thanks, Pone," he said, digging in.
After Darry had taken a bite, he looked at Soda and Steve. "What are you two doing after work?"
"We're takin' Sandy and Evie to the movies," Soda replied, grinning at the thought of his girlfriend.
"What movie?" Pony asked without thinking.
"Gorillas in the Mist," Steve replied, and Pony nearly choked on his eggs. Darry pounded my back.
"Thanks," he mumbled, finishing off his breakfast.
Johnny walked in just then, grinning at Pony slightly as he sat down next to Steve.
"Where's Two-Bit?" Johnny asked.
"He's at Bucks with Tim Sheppard," Dally replied. "You'd think that they were playing footsies or somethin' the way they've been gettin' close lately."
Pony did a double take.
I am not going crazy.
Darry and Soda finished the dishes. Just when Pony was beginning to relax, he saw Johnny go up to Darry and whisper something in his ear, which he could only just make out.
"Boom chicka wa wa."
Darry gasped, his eyes went wide. The he grinned at Johnny seductively. Wait a minute..
"Johnny, would you like a lap dance?" Darry asked, wiggling his eye brows suggestively.
"NO!" he cried, stepping away from Darry.
Pony looked like he was about to faint. He looked at the scene around him, taking in everything. Then he reacted.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" he yelled, running out of the house, and past Two-Bit, who was just walking in.
Two-Bit looked at the five boys cracking up with laughter in the Curtis living room.
"Whats so funny?" he asked, grinning.
Soda snorted, before answering. "Poor Pony. He doesn't know that he still sleep talks!"
