Disclaimer: I don't own it or profit from it. But you're smart, so you knew that already. :-)

A/N - Based on the prompt "light" and set in the AU established in "Freeze."

"I thought you said this was 'light opera,'" Moist hissed, fidgeting wetly in the red plush chair.

"I did," Billy replied as quietly as possible, not wanting to disturb those seated nearby.

Moist rolled his eyes. "Listen, I know you're a genius and all, but in this case I think you have your definitions confused."

"Just listen to it, Moist. The soaring high notes, the rousing coloratura." He closed his eyes in ecstasy.

Moist looked at him. "The title character just went insane and murdered her husband on their wedding night."

"And now she's singing about it. I find, personally, that singing is cathartic."

"But she's crazy."

"Everyone's a little crazy. And you have to admit the bloody wedding dress would make a wicked evil costume."

"Don't you find it just a little depressing, man?"

"Quite the contrary, dear Moisture."

The conversation was interrupted as the aria ended, the audience broke out into thunderous applause, and the vacated seat next to Billy was filled with pretty redhead and silky green gown. "I'm back," Penny whispered. "I'm sorry, there was problem at the shelter and they called me for advice."

Billy summarized the recent plot development for her, and she frowned. "To love a person so much it drives you to madness and murder? Granted, the murder of a villainous someone. But it makes me want to just scoop her up in a hug."

Billy smiled softly, and a slow grin spread over Penny's face. "What?" He shook his head and kissed her cheek.

Oh...

Light opera indeed.

A/N - For the non-opera geeks in attendance, the opera they're watching is Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and the aria is "Il Dolce Suono," Lucia's famous "mad scene." Anyway, all reviews—even negative ones—get replies, and concrit is especially welcome. Thanks for reading! :-D
