Broken Wings

The sparrows fall with broken wings,

Concrete feathers, diamond rings.

Painting the picture of what will come,

You laugh as ashes fill the drum.

Erase the past; erase the lies,

The cotton fibers and plastic eyes.

Erase the past, erase the fears,

The paper dolls and salty tears.

The sparrows fall with broken wings,

Into a shoebox tied with strings.

Painting a picture of what will come,

You laugh as the water fills my lungs.

Forget the future, forget the dreams,

It's all been stitched into the seams.

Forget the pain, forget the sorrow,

Everything will be fine tomorrow.
