TheDarkestShinobi: So I had a long winded plot in my head that was awesome, but as you can see I never really stuck with this story, so there will probably only be a few more chapters for this for a final battle type thing. I had always wanted to keep reading and writing but it just never happened. If you have stuck with it then you have been blessed with some otherworldly patience.

Start

I open my eyes to an unfamiliar bed with a familiar weight, but it's not my Heath and I'm scrambling out of it faster than I am gaining my bearings.

"Kalona." I spit as I hit the floor. He rises and I'm treated to the unwanted sight of his flesh. He turns towards me, wings spread and he's… furious. I stand angrily and his wings bring him off the bed before he lands in front of me.

"Why am I naked?" I refuse to take a step back, so I am looking straight up at him at this point.

"Because you didn't go to sleep with clothes." He spits and I refuse to explain this to him. He disserves nothing from me.

"Or alone." I spit back, because I didn't think he would think he was invited.

"No," He shook his head, "with a beast of Kira." He took a step closer but I pushed him. The push only resulted in me moving back so I crossed my arms with a huff trying to cover bits of myself.

"You-"

"No." I shook my head viciously. "I said I needed to be alone." His wings spread and I felt my blood race. I spread my own arms and tried to call the elements to me.

"I will never leave you alone, Zoey."

"Are you going to make me your newest victim?" The thought makes me take another few steps back. I should have the advantage at a distance. Wake up. I shake my head as he begins to speak.

"You were never a victim."

Wake up. Take two steps back.

"You wanted me."

Three steps back. Call the wind. Respond.

"Not anymore." I can feel the storm inside of me now; winds faster than my heart, harsher than my thoughts. "You are a monster and you won't touch me again!" He takes off towards me and I release the wind. It throws him backwards and I see a wing bend into what I hope is a break.

"I can promise you that!" I scream over the wind. It's keeping him down and sending my hair flying in every direction. I'm getting tired. Wake up. I can't keep up this wind for much longer. I stop it as I feel my fingertips start to burn from my fire. He is on his knees now.

"Don't make promises," he says and I strain to hear him. I blink and he's gone. In a panic I start turning. Where is he? Wake up! I let the fire breathe and come to life in my hands. Where is he?

"that you can't keep." I can feel him as I hear him and turn towards him. I'm trapped. Oh no. I bring up my arms to hurt him but he grabs my wrists. The fire gets sent straight up in the air and I focus my energy on something else. My other hand is next and I must have willed my fear into existence because there is now a wall behind me. Kalona seems pleasantly surprised and I squeeze my eyes shut. Wake up. Rain.

"Let me go!"

"Zoey, look at me."

"No." I am firm, but I feel his hands around my wrist and remember that we are both naked and I can feel the panic rise. Rain. Rain. It won't help. "No." I scream. Then, because I know it hasn't worked, I keep screaming it.

"Zoey," he tries to calm me. What? He won't take me if I'm screaming? No, what makes me different from his other victims? I thrash and never stop. Rain. Rain.

Wake up.

I open my eyes as I feel it working. I am so calmed by the dark clouds I am able to make the wall disappear.

Zoey, wake up!

Wake up. I pull and pull but he's not letting go of me. I almost start to scream again but I feel the warm wisp of fire near my shoulder. Then its raining. Kalona screams as the fire touches his bare skin but soon enough his wings are covering us. I'm struck by two things. His wings are big enough to cover the both of us, and he's still protecting me. Wake up. I finally am free and run from him.

"Aya, no!" he screams and sounds concerned but the fire doesn't burn me, it is nice and warm. Wake up. Warm, like home is, like Heath is. Wake up. He moves so that he can fly towards me and I hope that my fire burns him. I hope he learns.

I am fire and he should never touch me again.

I take a deep breath and plant my foot because the next thing coming is a wall of Earth for him. I close my eyes and when I open them I am in bed. I gasp and Heath finally stops shaking me and screaming. I pull away from him because all I know is he's restricting me and I don't want to be restricted. When I hit the headboard he stands and lifts his arms. I glance from him to the wall and fight to catch my breath.

I will find you in a place you can't-

"Zoey." His voice grounds me and I find his eyes and hold it. I hold his gaze as I hear the door slam open and someone run in, as Kalona's voice fades from my head, as my breathing returns to normal. "You're going to be okay."

Coming from him, I can almost believe it.

Her hands try to find purchase on the ground but it is not there. She twitches her hand as her bearings begin to return to her. Neferet groans out and there are hands helping her up now. Two, four, her whole guard must be here. She can't distinguish the voices from each other.

"Zoey," she groans out as she feels the ground beneath her feet. There is a murmur around her at the name and the state of the priestess. "Bring me Zoey Redbird." She feels the blackness take her again and only hopes they don't let her crash to the ground.

"We have to go." The door crashes open and in my shock I have pinned Aphrodite to the wall with the air. She grunts with the last of her breath and Heath steps between us. I let her go.

"Clothes!" She groans out as soon as she can breathe. I am thrown a shirt as by the time I put it on Heath has jeans on and is slipping on his sneakers. When Erin comes in I am given a pair of jeans and sneakers.

"Neferet woke up, apparently she was knocked out."

"By who?" I bend to tie my laces and Jack is the only one who answers me,

"You."

"Ladies, gentlemen" Darius insists as he pops his head in the door, "I suggest we take our leave immediately."

"Where's the rest of us?"

"Off campus."

It was weird.

I used to imagine I was a super spy, back when I was just a regular girl. I'd sit in class and imagine what I'd do if bad guys burst in. At the candy store I'd try to figure out what I'd do if it was robbed. In the halls, I'd imagine the stealthiest ways to get around and if it was possible to do so without being seen. Well, now I had to.

Worst part is that everyone else seemed to be better at it than me.

"She might be this way, by the dorms." Darius opened the door closest to him and snuck a few of them in, but the closet was really small. He must've made some motion to Heath because he pulled me to the other side of the hallway and into another door.

"Stop breathing so loudly," he whispered and I shook my head with a frown he couldn't see. I couldn't control that! Ugh. I called water to me to calm me and Heath relaxed against my shoulders. I forgot about his effects to me now. I smiled slightly even as I heard the footsteps go by.

"…liked that kid, but to think she…"

I couldn't hear much else but the thought of Neferet getting the whole school against me, again, made my insides burn.

"Zo," Heath growled and I quickly thought of water, flowing water, nice calm cool water.

A few minutes later there was a knock on the door and Aphrodite opened it with a smile. Erin waggled her brows and Jack blushed as a result. The rest of the way was made quickly and with ease until the exit. There was a guard on each side, neither of which looked friendly or ready to budge. We hovered near our door, trying to figure out a plan when I slipped-of course I would be the one to slip-and let out a soft cry. Not as soft as I was hoping because the two of them rushed forward.

"This could work." Aphrodite said as she shoved Heath and me away from the door and to the side exit of the building. I led Heath there warily but Aphrodite was done giving us directions. Erin and Jack held the door open for us while looking out for the guards. Aphrodite turned Darius around and planted a big one on him. Heath chuckled and pulled me further so I wasn't left to see what else they would do or what the guards would do to them once they found her. Getting off of school grounds was easy after that and only after I made it through did I turn back to see the guards returning to their post. I was thankful nothing seemed to happen to the two but Heath's tugging kept me from doing anything more than pray for them.

"Thank Nyx its dark out." Erin comments as we continue walking.

"I only hope the others are okay," Jack murmurs and I nod in response.

"Darius knew where they were, anyone have a phone?"

Damien's phone rings out on his dresser and so does Shaunee's. Stevie Ray picks up on the second ring. They are buying makeup for their marks and while Jack and Erin agree that that's a good idea, Heath traces my marks with his eyes and I know it is too much to cover up.

"What's our plan?" I ask, because I don't have one. At this point expulsion is better than death, which I was facing less than half a day ago.

"No idea." Erin's phone responds.

If a tree falls down in a forest and no one is around does it still make a sound?

Yes, Damien would say, nobody can hear the sound, but the vibrations still travel. It makes a sound that goes unheard, assuming that absolutely everything that could hear isn't there for some reason.

More relevantly, if a tree falls down on the edge of campus, and only a high priestess is around, then Neferet will be the first one to gaze at the physical form of Kalona as he emerges from the ground.
