A/N: This got a bit inspired by this discussion of Arwen in S2, via set photos, on the livejournal community camelot_love. (Discussion here: .com/camelot_?view=217796#t217796 Minor spoilers) I mentioned the words "moonlit tryst" & then perhaps I can 'blame' robinmarian with putting the idea of writing a fic in my head.

Also osted on my livejournal under the same username.

Gwen hurried across the dark courtyard of the castle, making her way home for the night. She could not say that she was afraid of the dark, but she was smart enough to be wary as a young woman walking alone.

That's when her greatest fear happened as she felt someone grab her around the waist and turn her. She shrieked, but it quickly died in her throat as she faced her attacker.

"Arthur!" she gasped. "Don't scare me like that."

"Sorry," he replied, smiling back at her. "I saw you from my window and hoped I'd catch you. You don't have a lot of time during the day…" He bent his head down to illustrate for what, but Gwen put her fingers to his mouth.

"Anyone could do just the same as you did, look out the window, and see us," she whispered, afraid of their voices carrying.

"I'm sure everyone is either asleep or too busy finishing up their chores."

Gwen peered up few lit windows, searching for spying silhouettes.

So Arthur took her hand, pulling her to the nearest wall to take sanctuary in the shadows.

"Now you'll let me kiss you?" Arthur asked, his eyes begging and teasing her at the same time.

Gwen didn't answer, instead tugging him by the front of his shirt. Arthur responded instantly, pressing her up against the wall and kissing her fiercely.

This was hardly the first time they had kissed so frantically. It seemed like whenever they did have time to meet in their busy days they had to get their fill in those few minutes. Then the rest of the day, they were left wanting, never getting enough.

In a few minutes Arthur stopped, moving down to plant slow, delicious kisses over her neck and shoulder after coming to the realization that they could take as long as they wanted this time.

Over his shoulder, Gwen could see the moon peeking up over the castle walls. Soon its light would shine directly on them, exposing their impromptu meeting. But as Arthur reached her lips again, taking the opportunity to draw out their kisses and relish their caresses, Gwen was come over with an uncommon recklessness.

Gwen's original fears had been warranted, however, as someone did come to witness their moonlit tryst.

The lady did not easily fall asleep, out of fear of her terrible dreams. So in her restlessness, she found herself looking down into the courtyard, at first surprised at the scene she saw, but then smiling lightheartedly to herself.

Morgana still saw the future that night, but found it outside her bedroom window instead.
