Hunting for Slytherclaws
By Silver Sailor Ganymede

"I want to go hunting for Slytherclaws," Lorcan announced. Lysander looked up from his history of magic homework and stared at his twin, exasperated. What was he up to now?

"Slytherclaws?" he asked, shaking his head. "Lorcan, would you care to explain to me what on earth a Slytherclaw is?"

Lorcan started at his brother in amazement. "You don't know what a Slytherclaw is?" he said slowly as though he couldn't believe what he had just heard.

"No, I do not know what a Slytherclaw is," Lysander replied curtly. 'Unsurprising, really, seeing as it's probably something you've made up. Again' he thought.

"Right!" Lorcan said. "We're going to go and hunt for Slytherclaws!"

"Not now, Lorcan," Lysander sighed. "I have an essay to finish."

"So?" Lorcan replied. "That's not due in till Wednesday, you've got plenty of time to finish it – besides that, it isn't like Binns ever checks our essays anyway."

Lysander had to admit that his brother did have a point there, but that still didn't mean that he was willingly going to go hunting for some creature that didn't even exist.

Lorcan, however, didn't seem to care whether his brother wanted to go Slytherclaw hunting on not. He grabbed his brother by the wrist and dragged him out of the library before he could even register what was happening.

"My essay's still in the table in there!" Lysander snarled at his brother.

"It's not like anyone's gonna steal a first year's history of magic essay," Lorcan replied. "And if anything does happen to it then you can have my essay and I'll write another one, ok? It's not like that's a problem for me. But it will be a problem if we miss the Slytherclaw!"

"Alright," Lysander replied, knowing that he really had no choice in the matter considering the fact that they were already outside in the castle grounds.

Lorcan continued dragging his brother behind him until eventually they ended up by the side of the lake, staring at the surface of the water.

"I see a Slytherclaw!" Lorcan cheered, pointing down at the water in front of them.

"What, so these Slytherclaws are aquatic then?" Lysander asked, curious as to what odd things his twin had thought up this time.

Lorcan frowned at him. "Of course not," he replied. "You mean you honestly haven't figured out what a Slytherclaw is yet?"

"Other than the fact that it's some sort of creature you made up, no," Lysander replied dryly.

"It is not a creature I made up!" Lorcan snapped. "A Slytherclaw is a Lysander-Lorcan, see? Coz you're a Slytherin and I'm a Ravenclaw, which means we're a Slytherclaw!"

Lysander groaned upon realising what his brother was saying. "You mean you dragged me out here just so we could look at a reflection of ourselves in the water."

Lorcan nodded in reply, "Pretty much. But I thought it'd be nice to let you know that I still love you even though we're not together all the time anymore, right?"

'I love you, but I don't like all these odd ideas you have,' he thought. Next thing they would end up diving into the lake because Lorcan wanted to find a Gryffinpuff; he could just see it.

He didn't say that though. He couldn't bring himself to be mean to Lorcan, not matter how daft his ideas could be sometimes.

"Love you too, bro. Love you too," he replied.
