There was something about the rain that appealed to Lily Evans.

She wasn't entirely sure what it was, but it was there. It might've been because it represented new beginnings. It might've been because she liked to laugh at the other girls who ran to seek shelter for their hair.

She didn't know what it was, but she knew that rain was special.

That was why she was there that day, spinning in circles outside in the rain.

"Aren't you dizzy yet," a voice asked from behind her.

Lily didn't have to turn around to recognize the voice. She knew it was James Potter, but she turned to face him anyways.

He was standing on the grass. His signature messy hair clinging to his face. He seemed to be fidgety, hopping from one foot to another. She wasn't sure how he could see through his glasses.

"What are you doing here, Potter," she asked quietly.

"Checking on you. Alice told me that you went outside to dance in the rain. I came out to make sure you didn't get sick. You're already soaking wet," he replied, gesturing to my cloak.

"I'm fine; you don't need to worry. I do this all the time," I assured him, "You can go if you want."

He rolled his eyes, "I'm not leaving without you. I don't care how long I have to wait. Besides, a little water never hurt anyone."

"Tell that to Alice. She ran into the castle throwing a fit about her hair," Lily snorted.

James only smiled lightly and sat under the nearest tree. It wasn't too close, but it was close enough to be able to keep an eye on Lily. It was the perfect distance.

Lily tried to pay the least amount of attention to James as she could. All she wanted was to be able to prance around in the rain in peace, and it was being much more difficult now that she could feel James watching her every move.

It didn't really bother her that he was watching; it was more of the way he was watching. His eyes were drawn to her like a magnet. Every little move seemed to be noticed, and he stared at her with such intensity. It was almost like he thought she was going to just disappear.

But she didn't. She still stood there in the rain, twirling and spinning. She even jumped in the occasional puddle.

The rain seemed to be drumming a beat on the ground. A beat she could dance to. So she did.

She was only swaying to the beat of the rain innocently when she felt him hold her waist. She didn't protest, and neither of them said anything. They only swayed back and forth to the rhythm of the rain.

James grabbed her hand and spun Lily around so she faced him. He placed his hand on her waist gently and began to lead her in a slow dance.

"What are you doing," she asked quietly.

"Dancing, and you are too," James replied, smiling softly at her.

"Dancing in the rain. Really? You're attempts are becoming more and more cliché," she fake scoffed. He glared at her playfully and lowered his face close to hers.

"I'll show you cliché," he muttered.

Then, he captured his lips with his own. It caught her off guard at first, but it didn't take long to kiss back him back softly. She had been anticipating this kiss for a while, even if she didn't know it.

They broke apart, and James smiled like an idiot. Lily smiled back and caught him in another kiss.

She mumbled against his lips, "I knew there was a reason I liked the rain."

Fluff central here in my living room.

I think it came out fairly well for something I didn't even want to finish. I probably wouldn't have if I didn't only have that last part to write. It's pretty short, but you're going to have to deal with it...

Disclaimer: Jo owns this all. Blah, blah, blah. I'm pretty sure that you guys already know this.
