to chocoholic4eva, for guessing right!
Just talk yourself up and tear yourself down / You hit your one wall now find a way around / Whoa what's the problem, you got a lot of nerve / So what did you think I would say / If you can't run away, if you can't run away / So what did you think I would say / If you can't run away, if you can't run away / You wouldn't / I never wanted to say this / You never wanted to stay / I put my faith in you, so much faith / And then you just threw it away / I'm not so naïve, my sorry eyes can see / The way you fight shy of almost everything / Well if you give up, you'll get what you deserve / So what did you think I would say / If you can't run away, if you can't run away / So what did you think I would say / If you can't run away, if you can't run away / You wouldn't / I never wanted to say this / You never wanted to stay / I put my faith in you, so much faith / And then you just threw it away / You were finished long before / We had even seen a start / Why don't you stand up / Be a man about it / Fight with open hands about it now / I never wanted to say this / You never wanted to stay, well did you / I put my faith in you, so much faith / And then you just threw it away / I never wanted to say this / You never wanted to stay / I put my faith in you, so much faith / And then you just threw it away
He fed me the we-can-still-be-friends bullshit. And it is bullshit. Because you really can't stay friends without the inevitable awkward silences and wistful reminiscing too, and by then it's just not worth the pain. So I decided as long as my heart was pretty much a goner, I might as well have fun with it. I dug out that picture—the one where he has sparkles in his hair that dripped from mine, the one where his lips are blue from the remnants of my lipstick, the one where he has that lying I-love-you look on his face—and sprayed it, very carefully and meticulously with a ridiculous amount of hairspray.
And then I took a match and lit Alec Lightwood on fire.
