THE CHASE OF THE MONKEY
It wasn't very often we got a case without a ghost, but the people who sent the case in thought we could handle it. You see, a monkey had escaped from his cell, and he thought that we could handle chasing the little, furry beast. So, we enter the Crossfinch Zoo, where monkeys are prized possessions, and it's our job to make sure the escapees are captured.
"Hello, Velma. I believe we spoke on the phone," Mister Crossfinch smiled.
"Indeed we did, Sir. If you don't mind, we only have the afternoon. We're on the way to a ghost house at the capital and we need to leave by six," Velma smiled.
"Well, I think I can do that. My twelve kids are all out spotting the monkeys, so here is the main walkie talkie. They'll call you if they see him. His name is Archibald and he's an orangutan. He likes food, much like you're two friends over there, so you might be able to lure him with that. We're leaving the capture up to you."
"We'll get him back, Sir, we promise," Fred smiled. "Alright, gang, let's go check out the park. Keep your eyes peeled for any monkey out of their cage."
"There's two right now," Daphne smiled, looking at Scooby and Shaggy. They were taunting three monkeys who were inside their cage, and they were doing a very good job of it.
"Shaggy! Scooby! We're leaving!" Velma called.
"Ruh?" Scooby mumbled. "Rey! Rait for me!" he exclaimed, running towards them, Shaggy being dragged behind.
"Scooby! The next time to run, try not to take me with you," Shaggy sighed. The girls laughed.
"Maybe you should stay with the group then," Velma replied sarcastically. "Come on now, we have to catch this monkey before we leave. Let's go see how he got out, and we might see him along the way."
"Velma's right. That's my plan, to check out the scene and go from there. Scooby, we'll have to borrow your nose for the trail. I'm sure Daphne has some Scooby Snacks for you, if you're too chicken to find an orangutan," Fred smiled.
"Ro-kay, 'Red," Scooby smiled. The gang then began walking up the main pathway. People were snapping pictures of snapping turtles and grazing near grazers. The scene was cheery, yet something always seemed out of place.
"Fred, doesn't that old lady look a bit hairy to you?" Shaggy asked.
"Shaggy, that is so rude! What if she has a problem?" Daphne asked.
"Believe me, it's real! Look! It's Archibald!" Fred exclaimed. The group then began chasing the monkey through the food court, and finally towards the monkey kingdom, where Crossfinch's children were waiting at his cage. He was put back in, and he sadly looked out to the visitors.
"Aw, he looks so sad!" Daphne cried. "Fred, what can we do?"
"Shouldn't you ask me that question?" Mister Crossfinch asked.
"Mister Crossfinch, what can we do to help poor Archibald? He looks so sad!" Daphne asked. Mister Crossfinch smiled.
"I'm glad you asked. You're going to the capital, correct?" he asked. The gang nodded. "Do you mind transporting him to a sanctuary for us? That's how he escaped in the first place. You see, the sanctuary sent one van to retrieve him and wouldn't come back, so we called you!"
"I'm glad we're helping out Archibald. Shaggy, do you think you can keep him and Scooby content in the Mystery Machine?" Velma asked.
"Sure, Velm," Shaggy grinned. "It's not like he won't have any friends!"
So, the case was solved, if you can consider it a case. It was more of a rescue mission, for Archibald AND for Shaggy and Scooby.
This has been Velma's case file for "The Chase of the Monkey". I hope you enjoyed it! R&R please!
