The Ring

All eyes were resting on Elrond, who was looking at the ring intently. Finally, he got up and moved closer to the table on which the ring was lying. He reached for it, but then he changed his mind and bent forward instead.

After a few moments, he spoke to the council. "It is as I thought," He said, "This is not the One Ring."

Surprised murmurs filled the air. Gandalf the Gray frowned in confusion. "How do you know that?" Elrond gave him a disapproving look, his eyebrows quirked.

"Because the writing on this ring says 'made in china'!"
