Chuck opened his eyes to find Blair's head set softly on his chest, her left arm splayed across his body. He brought his hand up to find hers in the dark. Blair mumbled, intertwining their fingers in her sleep. A smile stole across Chuck's face, stubbornly refusing to leave.

Chuck brought his other arm up to stroke Blair's hair lightly. She was the best thing in his life. Chuck could not remember being this happy. Ever. His early years were so defined by the struggle to please his father; the more recent years so defined by the struggle of trying not to fall in love. But fallen he had. Hard.

Chuck squeezed Blair gently, reminding himself she was still there. Her mumbling developed into coherency. "Hey," she managed, propping her chin on his chest and staring into Chuck's eyes with a smile.

"Hey," he offered back, unable to stop the corners of his own lips from curling upwards again.

"Go back to sleep." He thought of all the sleepless nights he had already caused her.

"No," she said defiantly. "I don't want to miss anything."

Chuck chuckled, his chest rumbling. "What would you miss, Waldorf? I'm just lying here."

Blair moved her finger to Chuck's face and traced his smile, "This," she whispered.

"Impossible," Chuck replied, kissing her finger. "I only smile when you're smiling," he explained. Blair's eyes glistened as she launched forward to meet Chuck's lips. When she moved back, she brought her hands to either side of Chuck's face.

"Then I'll smile all the time," she said. She set her head back down over Chuck's heart and curled into the side of his body. "What if I am having a good dream and smile in my sleep?" Blair teased. Chuck sighed in mock exasperation.

"I won't smile until you're awake again," he said.

"Promise?" Blair asked, lids faltering.

"Promise," Chuck whispered into her ear before placing a soft kiss on it. As Blair nuzzled closer, Chuck's lips betrayed him, curving slightly.

"Cheater," Blair mumbled into his chest. Chuck felt Blair's own lips move to match his own. "What's my punishment?" Chuck asked. Blair found his hand and brought it to her lips, eyes still closed.

"Me," she stated simply. Chuck pressed his lips to Blair's hair.

"Get ready for a life of transgression, then, Waldorf," Chuck said, his own eyes falling closed..

Blair sighed contentedly, her breath warming the spot over his heart, "Promise?" she asked.

Chuck smiled again.
