A/N: This is my first fan fic! This is a one shot after the war Annabeth decides to go to Goode High school with Percy.
Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians Rick Riordan does.
The Irony of Annabeth
Annabeth once again was staring into space thinking of moderations that could be made atop the empire state building, Olympus. She was torn away from the blueprints forming in her mind when Percy touched her hand and realized Mrs. Angstman, her new language arts teacher at Goode High School, was looking at her expectantly. She turned to Percy pleading with her storm-gray eyes seeing if he could help her out on this one. He just shrugged, his eyes saying 'don't look at me' and glanced at their petite teacher.
"Miss Chase, some time this day please," Mrs. Angstman said in her high pitched voice that made the couple want to laugh.
"Sorry, but I didn't quite hear the question, could you repeat it please?" Annabeth inquired.
"Annabeth, as you know we are doing Greek Mythology this week in class and you and Percy seem to be the most educated in this area. The question was, what goddess gave the Athenians the olive tree and beat what god in the contest for the city?" Mrs. Angstman smiled and waited for Annabeth's answer.
Before she answered she gave Percy a triumphant smile and he rolled his eyes back at her. "Well," she stated, "Athena gave the Athenians the olive tree as a sign of peace and democracy while Posiden," she turned and spoke to Percy with a mocking smile on her face, "gave the Athenians a salt water spring(A/N: Thanks for the tip ZoeNightshade2214) which was pointless, I mean, who could drink from a salt water spring? The Athenians made a good choice electing Athena because they became the worlds first democracy."
"Well said Annabeth," Mrs. Angstman said, "You are very wise," she paused with a now thoughtful look on her brow, "sometimes I think you may be a daughter of Athena the goddess herself!," she smiled kindly down on her with a joking tone in her voice and said, "Class dismissed."
Annabeth turned to Percy with a shocked look and disbelief formed on her face. "How could she know?" she whispered with an anxious look in her eyes.
Percy said, "Don't worry about it, it's not like shes a monster or anything. Plus you shouldn't make it so obvious being a know-it-all Wise Girl."
"Shut up Seaweed Brain, you can't blame me for being surprised," Annabeth said with a now playful smile on her face but her eyes betrayed that she was still shooken up from the irony and truth about what her teacher said.
They picked up there books, Annabeth took Percy's hand, and they headed to Pre-Engineering, Annabeth's favorite class.
