It was a wonderful beginning to a grand celebration. The group would be heading out in the morning but this time in particular the leader of the Sivon people would be one of the adults accompanying the young ones to the mainland. The reason for his attendance, for the first time in over a hundred years was because his only son had finally come of age. It was the cause for much celebration because the king had only one heir and his coming of age ment that he would begin training to take over the kingdom.
None of the Sivin people had died of old age in some time however they recognized that having one ruler who never stepped down would lead to a decaying civilization. With this in mind the king or queen would begin training the heir as soon as they came of age. The heir would take over the throne when the current leader deemed the heir ready regardless of how long it may take.
For now there would be drinking and dancing, stories from an older Sivin to the young about their trips to the mainland, and much excitement over what forms the young ones would choose.
With morning came time to load the boats. The logistics division had been preparing for a year now to ensure everything went smoothly from boarding to disembark upon their return.
The king stood on the dock watching as his people filled the boats. He stood tall and proud, tan from years in the sun on a mostly tropical island like most of his people. His head was shaved, though he had a thick black beard. Unlike most of his people who wore robes of varying color, that reached down to the top of their feet, he wore only light blue robes to signify his position.
"How are things coming?" The king asked the one in charge.
"Very well Your Majesty, everything is going according to plan. There hasn't been any unforeseen problems and we should depart on schedule." He answered easily. By appearances he looked far too young to be leading the logistics division, only looking to be about late teens, early twenties. He had a muddy brown hair color, with equally brown eyes. He looked rather lanky but there was an undeniable underlayer of strong muscle in every inch of his body. He wore yellow robes so that others knew his job and avoided getting in the way of official business.
"Good. Has my son arrived yet?"
"Not yet but he isn't due for some time yet."
"Very well, I shall leave everything to you."
This trip would become one people would speak of for quite some time. As the ships left port no one knew that their carefully preserved peace would soon be shattered.
