SUMMARY: KAORU/OC. His heart had been torn apart. But she was there, with her usual emotional tools to cure his broken heart.

DISCLAIMER: Kaoru's not mine. Credits for the song 'Fixing a Broken Heart' which inspired me to do this story.

A/N: This is my first attempt for a Kaoru/OC and it's a one-shot. Bwahahahaha. I could say it's dedicated for kaito142 for making Hikaru the best run-away brat ever. Originally, I was supposed top be making it a Kaoru/Haruhi. But the thunder contradicts it so here goes Natsumi, my OC. READ ON!

START:

He stood in front of the gates of the empty airport, motionless and frozen. He was numb.

She had left.

She had left him. And he was the last to know that she was gone. It tore him apart.

"I'm never coming back," she had said.

She was never coming back.

He was alone.

---

He was standing out in the rain, allowing the large drops of water to drench his frail body, to wash away the pain, to let it all go away. She had left him all alone. For a dream, she had chosen it over him. She had left because she wanted to make her dreams come true. But she didn't want him. She didn't love him. She didn't choose him.

"Kaoru!" a voice called out, slightly muffled by the roar of thunder up ahead.

He was numb. He didn't want to feel anymore. He wanted the pain to go away.

Please make it go away.

"Kaoru," she whispered as she walked closer, holding up an umbrella that barely covered his tall form. "You'll catch a cold."

He gave a meek smile as he turned to look at her concerned face. "She's gone."

She held out a hand and pressed it against his cold cheek.

"It's all right," she mouthed as another thunder howled in a distance.

"She left me."

"I'm here."

Tears feel down once again as she stroked his cheek with a comforting warmth. And then he pulled her closer, squeezing her between his arms as the umbrella came falling down and soaked them further. "Make the pain go away."

"It's all right." Her voice was filled with warmth. It was loaded with comforting warmth. "I'm here."

You're making it easier for me to bear the pain.

"We'll make it go away."

You make it easier to bear.

Fix my broken heart.

---

He woke up in a daze on a large futon inside a cramped room. He felt a little better, as compared at how terrible he had been last night. The pain had lessened and his heart wasn't tearing apart anymore. He felt lighter.

Pushing the blankets off him, he stood up and went to the kitchen with his stomach growling in complaint.

Natsumi was there; her usual baggy clothes were barely clinging to her body, an apron wrapped around her waist. She looked up when he notice him cross the threshold.

"A lot better?" she asked as she flipped the omelet she was preparing on the skillet by the stove. Kaoru merely grunted in reply as he occupied the empty seat on the table.

"Oniisan is still asleep," she went on as she continued with her work.

"Natsumi."

"He's been away all night for work so normally, he would oversleep in the morning."

"Natsumi."

"Hm?"

"Thank you," he merely said. She turned to look at him with a warm smile, the one that gave him slight reassurance that it was all right.

Thank you for trying to fix my heart.

"I'm always here for you. You know that."

You fixed my broken heart.

With one swift movement, Kaoru strode up to her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, as she was caught off guard.

You eased all the pain.

"Kaoru?"

"Thank you."

For fixing my broken heart.

I'll forget the past.

And fix my broken heart.

END.
