The Fullmetal Alchemist flipped the silver watch in his gloved palms, feeling its weight now more than ever. He knew it meant loyalty to a man that annoyed him to no end, loyalty to a government he didn't really believe in.

He liked to think of himself as just a passenger in the State train, just a random persona whose dreams and past tangled him too much before he could even grow up properly.

It was awkward though, when he stood all alone for the first time in that man's office.

Mainly because his hair was all too dark and satiny and made Ed curious whether it felt as soft as it looked.

Or perhaps because his eyes were black and glossy, probably hiding something he would never let the boy alchemist know.

He played with his thumbs, eyes drifting.

Suddenly, he had to look away; seemingly finding a greatly interesting spot in the wooden, sturdy desk.

"Fullmetal?"

Ed's head snapped up again, finding himself all too suddenly caught in obsidian orbs.

"Colonel."

The response seemed dry, but it was due the unexpected lack of saliva in the blonde's throat.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I always am."

Roy barely smiled, amused.

"Such a lame liar."

A yellow file slid over the desk.

Edward looked up, the question evident in his eyes.

"Assignment to keep your title, Fullmetal."

The boy's eyes lit up.

"Can we fight?!"

That'd be great! I actually get to be close to him! And I could touch his hair...

Ed's mind wandered away, waking up only to feel soft digits pulling back a golden bang.

"Preferably not. "

The teenager swallowed.

Roy's smile morphed into an all too dangerous and way too charming smirk.

"I had other things in mind."

Mustang leant in for a soft, chaste kiss, and Edward just wondered what the hell was wrong with him and the pervert, bastard colonel.

Not that he really cared.
