Hi everyone! (Dodges flying objects) Okay I know I should be working on 'Letting Sleeping Cats Lie' but my muse decided this one needed to be written first. It is a one-shot and will remain one. I do not intend to let this one become a monster like LSCL is becoming.

"Human!" A high-pitched shrill voice called, "Where are you, you stupid girl!"

Said girl was currently being chased by a large ogre, but even under such duress the child still did not call out. She was still unable to talk even though she had had months to heal emotionally from seeing her parents killed by the bandits. Being killed herself probably had a hand in this tardiness, but she had gained a powerful protector in doing so.

Panting with tears running down her face she tripped over an unseen root and was caught by the ogre.

"What a sweet tender meat I've found here in the deep forest!" The ogre chuckled with demonic glee, "I shall eat you with relish my little one!"

The girl-child was sobbing now.

She would never follow her savior again. She would never sing a song about the wind or the trees again. She would never tell Lord Sesshomaru her name simply because she wandered to far from Master Jaken in her search for food.

The regret in her heart was so great that she had to let it out.

"Lord Sesshomaru!!!" The girl child wailed, her voice cracking from disuse, as the ogre lifted her to it gapping maw, "Rin is sorry!"

Covering her face as the ogre began to bite down she did not see the whip of green energy as it hit the ogre's face.

"Ahhh!" the ogre cried as its flesh was seared off where the whip landed again and again, "How dare you interrupt my meal!"

Dropping Rin as it turned to its attacker, the ogre lashed out at the dog demon who'd interrupted him.

"Die you low-life," Sesshomaru said calmly as he slashed the ogre's head off.

Rin, having recovered from being dropped, raced over to her Lord's side.

"Rin is thankful Lord Sesshomaru saved Rin," She said breathlessly, staring up at her savior with adoring eyes.

Sesshomaru looked down at her and his eyes softened almost imperceptivity, but Rin noticed and smiled brightly.

He turned and began to walk away knowing the girl would follow.

"There you are you troublesome girl!" Jaken scolded, "Did Lord Sesshomaru have to save you again?!"

"Master Jaken! Rin was saved by Lord Sesshomaru from a huge ogre!" Rin said with delight not noticing the stunned expression on the little demon's face.

"So you can speak," Jaken stated, "Here I thought you were a mute."

"Yes Rin realized Rin needed to speak again so that she can live without regret," Rin said seriously, "Rin wanted to tell Master Jaken and Lord Sesshomaru that Rin loves them!"

Jaken sputtered at this and Sesshomaru simply nodded towards the now talkative girl. Then the dog demon turned and began to walk away.

Rin jumped up to follow leaving a still stunned Jaken were he was.

Finally noticing that he was being left he started running after them.

"Wait for me Lord Sesshomaru!"

The next day the girl who followed the Lord of the West could be heard singing in a cute melodic voice as she picked flowers for her Lord.
