Chapter 22: The Fated Hour Part 2

Darkness…

Complete darkness…

A flicker of green light flashed within the darkness. A metallic fist struggled against metal straps.

"W-Where…am I?" A soft robotic voice muttered. Robo's censors now recharged looked around wondering where Queen Zeal's spell had taken him. Even though he was a robot, he could feel that he was lying on a cold and smooth surface which resembled an operating table. He looked around and saw that he was surrounded by various monitors, computers, test tubes, and other high tech equipment. The room was large enough to fit the entire people of the Arris Dome. The robot stared down at his feet and saw that they too were strapped in tight. A thought of worry hit his central nerve. He thought of his friends and wondered if they were alright.

"I must break free from these bonds…," The robot thought aloud as he twisted and turned his metal joints to try and break the straps. "I must help my friends…"

"You will remain here Prometheus!" A voice boomed.

Robo instinctively stopped struggling against the bonds which held him. He twisted his head to the left and right.

"Calm yourself, Prometheus," The voice said soothingly. "I am not here to harm you."

"Who are you?" Robo asked hearing the voice belonging to a female. "Why are you keeping me here?" Robo asked. "I must return to my friends. Lavos must be stopped!"

"The great entity known as Lavos has already destroyed the Earth, Prometheus," The voice replied. "It is time to usher in a new era where we robots can rule together with humans and fiends alike!"

Robo took a moment to sink in what he had just heard. "Am I in a different dimension?" He asked.

"You are here to fulfill your true destiny, Prometheus," The voice began. "You cannot see or my infantile creation. I am the remains of the old Mother Brain computer back in 2300 AD on Geno Dome. I am a superior creation elaborated by Belthasar and the rest of the researchers here on Chronopolis. I am able to keep record of EVERY being on this planet. However, Lavos has left the world scarred and barren in the past millennia. We have just come out of war Promethus. Rebuilding everything the Dragonians tried to take from us. Our science, our knowledge was almost taken away from us, however we were able to succeed. With your help we can rebuild a new future for everyone. I am the all seeing, all powerful super computer known as FATE! "

"NO!" Robo shook violently against the bonds. "I refuse to assist you! My friends are the ones who need my help!"

"You have no choice in the matter, Prometheus! It is your destiny! Your intricate circuitry is all we need to fulfill our hope that was once shattered by Lavos. It is your fate is to serve us!" FATE spat back at the robot.

Robo continued to thrash on the steel cuffs which held him in place. His gears and wiring were put to its limit as he struggled. Sparks began crackling around his fists and legs. "I will not…abandon my friends…," Robo said as he felt the metallic straps starting to loosen. "Together we will be the ones to defeat Lavos and bring peace not only to the future, but to all worlds and dimensions." A loud snap was soon heard and Robo's right wrist was free. He used his implanted lasers to cut through the rest of straps and leaped off the table. The robot fell to the hard, smooth surface as he landed.

Watching this display of power, the super computer known as FATE was not disappointed that Robo had escaped his imprisonment. She was more astonished and intrigued by his strength and power. "You are what we need, Prometheus," She told the robot hoping to change his mind. "We need you to fix this world's chaotic time shift. Everything you once knew has been altered almost as if they did not exist. Even your friends whom you are trying to reach are no longer of this world."

Robo looked slightly disheartened as FATE said this to him. If he were human, tears would be streaming down his censors right now. 'My friends do not exist in this world or universe?' Robo thought to himself. He then faced the central computer where FATE's voice was coming from. "They may not exist in this world, FATE! But they exist in my world. I will do whatever it takes to make sure they know about the outcome of this world! I will alter history so that my friends can exist in this universe!" Robo smashed the metallic door in front of him and calmly walked out as sparks continued to flicker from his gears and wires.

"You cannot stop fate, Prometheus. This world will come into fruition. You and your friends are the key to making this world into existence." FATE replied as she watched Robo leave.

Ayla rubbed her head and groaned. She wondered where Queen Zeal's illusion had sent her and if the others were alright. She blinked a few a times as she saw the people of the Ioka and Laruba village carrying slabs of stone and various dinosaur bones.

"Reptites still alive?" She wondered to herself.

The people of Ioka and Laruba were also in shackles. Ayla's eyes narrowed at what she saw. There was no way she let her people be prisoners, especially to the Reptites. The cavewoman groggily stood up and took a step forward, but was immediately pulled back. She turned around seeing that her ankles were shackled to a cave wall.

Ayla growled angrily to herself thinking how she was able to let this happen and tried yanking at the chains with her profound strength. She was suddenly on the ground as she felt a strong hand slap her across the face. She glared at being who would dare assault her like that. Wiping the blood from her lip she saw someone who appeared to be a Reptite, but it had no features of the clumsy reptites which she knew.

"You not Reptite…" Ayla said.

The creature in front of her laughed cruelly. It had more dragon features than dinosaurs. Sharp claws and teeth, small wings etched on its back. A large head and tiny body with wide yellow eyes. Smarter and even more threatening than the Reptites. "Me? A reptite?" The creature replied smugly. "Haven't seen one of those de-evolution creatures in centuries!" It shrugged. "Then again, the reptites were better off than you pathetic humans." We are known as Dragonians. We evolved from the primitive reptites, with you humans serving as our slaves we were able to co-exist within nature. Learning about the world and how in science and technology. Something you primitive cave humans could never understand!" The Dragonian smirked. "However there is one benefit to having you humans around."

Ayla leered at the cocky creature, "What that?"

"Building Terra Tower takes a lot of man power which you humans are expendable for," The Dragonian answered. "Our Dragon God will soon rule the Earth just as history has intended for us!"

Ayla stared at the odd dragonian being. With her quick reflexes she lodged her fist into the creature's stomach. The evolved dinosaur grabbed a hold of Ayla's fist. The sadistic grin on its face grew wider.

"You pathetic humans, always resort to violence." The Dragonian spat at Ayla, slamming her into the wall.

Ayla let out an anguish cry. She never allowed her enemies to hear her scream or see how weak she was, but this new enemy was much more powerful than she was. The Dragonian kept its hold on her smashing her face against the rocky walls. Ayla felt a trickle of blood raining down the side of her face. She squeezes her fist not wanting to take this abuse any longer. The Iokian chief let out a war cry snapping the chains which held her ankles and kicked the Dragonian in the side, face, and head. She gasped for breath as she touched the side of her head feeling blood on her fingers.

The slaves of Ioka and Laruba watched as they saw their former chief fight off the Dragonian.

The Elder of Laruba village walked over to Ayla. "Must hurry, the Dragonians will have reinforcements soon." He saw that she was bleeding and quickly ushered her outside where Ayla saw a rocky fountain covered in red trees. The sun was shining brightly over the fountain. Eight tiers of water ran down and through the base of the fountain.

"What this?" Ayla asked the Elder.

"Make wound better," The Elder answered. "Hear sound of water whenever near."

Ayla walked up to the rocky fountain. The Elder was right; she was able to hear a soothing melody coming from the fountain. It was almost as if the sound was co inhabited with the nature of this world. She also noticed a large shimmering stone. Almost like a large dragon egg on top of the eighth tier. The reflection from the sunlight on the stone made each tier on the fountain change different colors like a kaleidoscope or rain bow. The colors slowly changed from yellow to red to green to blue to black and then finally white.

She also saw words etched onto the base of the fountain in the Reptite language.

"In order to survive, all living things in the world fight desperately and devour those they defeat…" The Elder read out loud staring at the etched words. "Dragonian source of power," He told her. "Stone make Dragon God strong."

"Why not take?" Ayla asked. "Stop Dragon God!" She then realized something which almost disheartened her. Was there something even stronger in another universe which was much more powerful than Lavos? She knew somehow there would be a way to stop this as well. She looked at the Elder giving a nod of thanks. She and the Elder heard the Dragonians footsteps running towards them.

"Leave place now, you give hope to humans." The Elder told her.

Ayla ran through the strange new world she was in. More determined than ever to defeat Lavos and stop any other new threat which would endanger her world.

Magus red eyes fluttered open and saw his faithful purple kitten by his side. "Alfador?" Magus asked. He wondered if Queen Zeal's spell had flung him out of the Black Omen and back to the world below. The tiny purple kitten meowed in delight happy to his master was unharmed. The dark mage stood up and realized he wasn't standing on a snow surface. Not in the least, he was standing on soft green grass. He looked around curiously as to where he was and saw Zeal Palace gloriously and yet ominously standing on the highest cliff of the island.

"So I'm back here again." Magus mused to himself seeing that he was in his lilac princely robes from when he wore as a child. The Kingdom of Zeal in its glorified return. The research and magic district of Kajar and Enhasa were standing tall and proud like they were before the Ocean Palace disaster.

"Why did she send me back here?" Magus wondered. "Now's not the time for us to be catching up, Mother. It's your fault that our home was destroyed, that I lost Schala. You never seemed to care about me before. Why start now?"

"Talking to yourself again, Janus? I hate when you do that it worries me so. Or are you hoping for Alfador to reply back to you?"

Magus did not even need a second thought to realize who was speaking to him. He calmly turned around seeing his sister, Schala. She had a cheerful smile on her face and her brilliant blue eyes were filled with peaceful, yet strong shine. Her robes accommodating the Princess of Zeal's figure as she walked over to her step brother. For a moment Magus wished that this faulty illusion was real.

The former prince of Zeal was too fixated on his sister to usher out a sound. The person he was searching for eons. She was finally in front of him. His immoral quest had finally ended.

Schala held out her dainty hand in to her step brother. "Let's return to the palace." She said softly. Even her voice enticed the dark mage's senses.

Magus knew this wasn't real, he had to return to the real world and stop Lavos, so that one day he could see his step-sister again. "I can't Schala," He said to her.

"Why can't you?" Schala asked gently. "Mother wishes to see us both. Our new God has arrived."

'God…?'' Magus thought, his gloves tightening. "Lavos is not a God!" He roared. "That vile parasite is no God! It means to destroy everything we hold dear!"

"Lavos only destroys those who do not believe," Schala replied. "Everything in Zeal Kingdom is thanks to his greatness, his power."

"Schala…," Magus paused looking into his step-sister's bright blue eyes. There was no remorse or regret in her words. In this world Lavos had already brainwashed her. The dark mage just had to keep reminding himself that none of this was real.

He was aware of his mother's illusion spells. However, deep down, Magus knew that his sister was right. Lavos had given his kingdom, his lineage, the people, and even himself. They were all granted a privilege normal humans would always dream of, to be more than just normal, to be greater than the ordinary. In a way, Magus had to thank the ancient entity for granting his powers to control the darkness that were dormant inside of him as a child.

'None the less, Lavos must be stopped.' The dark mage thought. He then suddenly felt Schala's gently hand against his cheek.

"Come back with me," Schala said gently closing the gap between them. "Mother will allow you to rule over not just our kingdom, but every other world." She placed her soft hand against his pale cheek.

As tempting as this was Magus pushed back from his sister. "I would not want to live in a world where a monster rules over us," He told her levitating into the air. "I promise you Schala, I will bring you back." He would keep that promise for the rest of his days.

The heroes of time awoke and found themselves back in the Black Omen. The spell which Queen Zeal had casted on them had lifted.

"W-We're back…" Crono groaned and looked up seeing the Mammon Machine infused with Lavos's great power.

"Oh no!" Marle gasped. "Are we too late?"

"It'll be the Ocean Palace all over again if we don't stop it!" Lucca exclaimed.

"We have to do something!" Jera added tightly holding her sun staff.

"Fools, you cannot stop Lavos!" Zeal said boasting in pride. "You may have broken through my spell, but Lavos will destroy all of you!"

"You've been duped your highness," Frog retorted. "Lavos's power will ultimately destroy you too."

"It doesn't matter how strong Lavos is," Robo said to the energetic queen. "We will continue to fight."

"No lose," Ayla glared at the queen. "Lavos is a powerful beast. We fight to the death."

"No matter what the outcome may unfold," Magus told his mother. "Your reign ends here mother."

Hearing the determination from the heroes of time, Zeal became enraged. She hoped that her illusions would have brought the heroes into thinking that all this was for nothing. Instead they were more determined to fight and win. "You all know nothing!" She seethed. "I will destroy you all myself!"

As if on cue, the Mammon Machine began resonating a horrible blood red color. It was stained with Lavos's almighty power. A strong, powerful red beam struck Queen Zeal making her already powerful magic stronger. The Black Omen shook as Lavos's power grew stronger.

"The Black Omen can't take much more!" Robo exclaimed. "We have to finish this fight quickly!"

"You maggots!" Zeal raged. "I am the Queen who shall rule for all eternity at Lavos's side. You will not stand in way!"

Magus frowned hearing his mother say these words. He balled his gloved fists. "Fool," He began. "No thing, no life, can last forever. You are being deceived. You deserve mercy at the least. I…," The dark mage paused looking at his comrades. He never mistook them for friends until now. "We will put an end to all of this!"

Zeal's heart was now blackened with rage, which allowed Lavos's power inside of her to grow even stronger than it already was. "Accursed Prophet," She sneered. "You are no son of mine!"

"You disowned me the moment you began using a great power that was beyond your comprehension!" Magus retorted.

"All of you shall pay with your lives!" Lavos's power transformed the Queen of the Kingdom of Zeal into a god-like entity. This time, splitting into three parts - a head and two hands.

Together the heroes of time banded together their strength and magic, attacking the now god-like Queen of Zeal with everything they had.

"Fools, you're all just delaying the inevitable!" Zeal kept raging on using her new found transformation to its full limit.

"You're the weak one!" Marle aimed her bow and arrow at the hitting the giant head that was speaking ill about her friends. "You can't face the fact that no matter how powerful you become, we'll always be here to stop you!" The princess suddenly screamed as one of the large hands grabbed her lifting her up the ground.

"Insult me again young descendant, I dare you!" Zeal scoffed.

"Marle!" Crono yelled wanting to attack with his Rainbow Sword to help her.

"Crono, no!" Lucca protested. "You could put Marle at risk!"

"We can't just sit here and do nothing!" Jera exclaimed.

"Lavos is approaching!" Ayla growled.

Marle squirmed in the mighty Queen's grasp, her pendant, which was also Schala's pendant began to glow.

"T-This horrible light…!" Zeal scowled. "Where is it coming from?!"

Marle looked at the ancient necklace around her neck and held it up high, blinding the Queen.

"Marle's pendant it's purifying the darkness in Queen Zeal's heart." Lucca assumed.

"N-No…!" Zeal growled. "I do not wish to be ordinary! I want to be among the Gods, among Lavos, to rule over everything!"

The giant hands began to dissolve and Marle safely landed beside her friends. Queen Zeal reverted back to her original self.

"How dare you vermon get in my way…!" Zeal glared at them. She was defeated by children, people who had no purpose, just their hope for a better future. "Oh, almighty Lavos lend me more of your great power!"

"Haven't you realized that Lavos's power will destroy you?" Frog asked.

The ground below them suddenly shook.

"Lavos has awakened!" Robo exclaimed.

The Black Omen spaceship was crumbling around them. Not even this mighty ship could sustain the power of Lavos.

"This is where it all ends for you fools!" Zeal grinned maliciously. "Lavos will destroy you all…!"

A giant gate opened below everyone sending them through another time rift leaving Queen Zeal to die in her crumbling fortress. The last thing anyone heard was her malevolent laughter as Lavos emerged from deep below the planet's surface ready to fulfill what destiny had written.

All the Chrono Cross references or is it? Lol ok they are xD But it's also relevant to the end of this fic

That is the closest I will ever get to writing a Magus/Schala moment rofl. I don't ship them guys D: They are siblings... that's called incest. But you are free to ship whatever you want.

Yeah I honestly have no idea when I'll be updating again. But if you're a fan of Kingdom Hearts, feel free to check out all my Kingdom Hearts fanfics. Maybe when I finish the main story line and get to the part where Kingdom Hearts 3 takes place, I might just put in Chrono Trigger in it :) Cause it would be awesome :D

Review :D
