A/N: Hey guys, just asking you to PLEASE leave a review, it doesn't matter if it's only two words long, just something to let me know if you want me to continue, that's all I ask :)

Samantha's POV

I am so stupid. I knew Jeff wasn't interested in me, and I let Anna get my hopes up these last few days anyway. Now I'm right where I didn't want to be, broken hearted and drenched in an elementary school yard.

Okay, so there's no way I could have planned for this exact scenario, but it sucks nonetheless. I can't believe I thought I could actually have someone like Jeff all to myself, but Anna convinced me all the signs had been there...and why did he have to be such a good kisser?

I couldn't stay in that house. I couldn't risk seeing them together or touching, I don't even know how I'm going to face him at all after I heard him tell his dad he didn't like me. I can assume that's what they were talking about, since Gil always brought it up to me it make sense that he would talk to his own son about it. But what do you do when your best friend, the sweetest guy in the world who you're slowly falling madly in love with, crushes your heart without even realizing it?

Naturally, you come to the spot where you first felt something for him. Or, at least that's what I did. That's right, I'm currently wandering around the playground we came to the night of our first sleepover, the night he tackled me to the ground laughing and we stared deep into each other's eyes for the first time, when I felt the first spark of electricity for my new found friend. I walk past the swings, lightly touching them as I go, remembering how he pushed me. It's also the spot he found me when we had our fight, but I guess he's too preoccupied now.

I continue my way across the field, not so much minding the rain anymore. I love storms, and this was warm summer rain, not blistering cold. It's so dark now, the only light is from the street lamps and the occasional lightening. I know I'll have to walk back soon, but I don't want to deal with all the questions of running off. Especially from Jeff. How am I suppose to explain this? I've taken shelter under a large tree for the moment to push the hair out of my face and try to think of a cover story. I'm sure my face is puffy and tear stained, although no more can fall. I lean my back against the trunk and let my head fall back with a thud. This sucks.

I push off the tree, ready to start heading home, when I stop suddenly. There's a flash of lightening, and for a brief second I see a figure over by the swing set. But I'm not scared. As I walk up and stop behind it, I see that it's a man, my Jeff, sitting down with his head in one hand trying to keep his hair out of his face, and his phone in the other.

"Come on Samantha, please pick up..." I hear him say, but I can't, I don't have my phone with me.

"Samantha! I've looked everywhere for you.." I guess my voicemail started up. His southern accent seems stronger, and his voice is shaky like he too has been crying. "I-I don't know where else to go, you're really scaring me. Anna said you just took off, a-and I just went after you. I'll always come after you." He finished softly. It's getting hard to hear him over the rain. I watched as he hung up the phone and hung his head in defeat. He looked so helpless, like a lost puppy.

He stood up off the swing and started to walk when I finally found my voice.

"Jeff..." I called, hoping he would hear me. My heart skipped as he stopped and slowly turned around. I couldn't see his face in all the rain, so I didn't know if he was happy to see me or mad that he had to come out and find me in this weather. This reuniting wasn't like at the beach where we ran to each other, no. I stood perfectly still while he slowly walked toward me, my heart pounding faster the closer he got until he was directly in front of me, staring. I slowly raised my head to look at his face and barely got to see his tear stained cheeks before he enveloped me in the biggest hug I've ever gotten.

"Don't you ever do that to me again." He whispered in my ear as he held me tight against his chest. I couldn't help but breathe in his familiar scent.

"What are you doing here, Jeff?"

He held me at arms length before answering. "I'm here looking for you, isn't that obvious?"

"I mean why are you here looking for me when you have company at your house." I said, wiggling out of his arms.

"Company? You mean Christine? Funsize I told you she's just a girl, I invited her over to get Anna and them off our backs. You said you wanted distance from me, I was trying to go along with the plan."

I looked at him like he was crazy. "You can't just go making plans without telling me!"

He chuckled and pushed some hair behind my ear. "Well I didn't know you were going to run off crying now, did I? You wanna tell me what that was about?" His hand still lingered on my cheek and it was very distracting.

"Not really, it's stupid. You'll probably laugh at me." I mumbled and looked down shyly.

"Try me." He titled my head up to look at him and I sighed.

"Okay here's the part where you need to not laugh at me. Your dad is always teasing me about having feelings for you, and earlier I heard you tell him you "didnt like her" so I thought he was doing it to you too about me, as in you were saying you didn't like me. And even though I already know that you don't and that we're just friends, I don't know, I guess it just got to me. Well when I saw Christine there all I could think of was her taking you away from me, and I can't have that happen. Not just her, I don't want anyone to take you from me, but if it's not her someone else is just going to come along and seeing her there just made me realize that and it freaked me out." I replied trying to avoid eye contact as much as possible, but he was staring at me so intently it made it hard to look away.
