Something is wrong! were the first words to flit through Tasha's mind as she entered the office that day. She moved stealthily, not making a single sound in the building that was far too quiet. There was no chatter nor typing, and the only sound she could hear was the computer's soft humming. She moved silently, passing through the first room and going into the central office.
The lights flashed on suddenly. Tasha drew her gun, then froze as she found herself staring at a gathering of people with huge grins on their faces and heard their shouts. Her narrowed pupils slowly widened, and she hesitantly sheathed her gun. "That's a good way to get your head blown off," she warned Val, but she was grinning nonetheless. No one had ever grown her a surprise birthday party before!
