A/N: Ok, so this is my first Gossip Girl fic so please go easy on me, although saying that any constructive critism is appreciated.
It's just a little drabble that I've had running around my head for ages, but now that it's been written hopefully it will leave me in peace!
Set shortly after Dan deliberately sabotages Blair's relationship with Chuck.

Proved Me Wrong
She'd always treated him like trash; well, most of the time. She had helped him plot his revenge against Georgina.
But what did people expect?
He was from Brooklyn.
Brooklyn was a world away from the Upper East Side of Manhattan and she reminded him daily of that little fact.
Silently, Blair stared at him, the intensity of her gaze causing the usually confident young man to fidget uncomfortably; a sure sign of his nerves. His words of apology had trailed off long ago, leaving an awkward silence to fill their place.
The apology he'd been trying to make to Blair over his destructive advice, when he'd been so foolishly mislead by Vanessa was stuck in his throat.
She was supposed to have been his best friend, he'd had no reason not to believe her when she told him about how Blair and Chuck had tricked her.
Stupid, stupid naivety.
He wasn't the same person he'd been before he'd met Serena, before his Mom had left, before he'd become embroiled within the plots and intrigues of the Upper East Side. So how could he expect Vanessa to be the same girl he'd grown up with?
Blair gazed coolly at him, her eyes calculating.
When there appeared to be nothing more forthcoming, Blair prepared to leave, stepping forward before changing her mind suddenly as she drew up next to his side.
Her head twisted round to look at him, their faces closer than she'd anticipated when he remained stock still except for the same movement of his head.
When it came to Daniel Humphrey, Dan Humphrey as he introduced himself and preferred to be called, Blair had made one vital mistake; she had underestimated him.
He'd come from Brooklyn and there was a softness to him. Something akin to innocence almost.
"I didn't think you had what it took to be one of us." Blair announced quietly, here eyes burning into him; eyes so expressive that they said a thousand words. "Guess you proved me wrong, Cabbage Patch." There was a beat of silence as she drew out her sunglasses, preparing to slide them on after her parting comment as she walked away. "Welcome to the Upper East Side, Daniel."
