"What do you think you are, a boy?"

The newspaper in Erika's hand dropped to the ground, fluttering open to the horoscope section that she had come up with in the middle of the night. "Excuse me?" She whispered, knowing that it was only a matter of time before she jumped over the picnic table to grab those red pigtails and tug, hard.

Karin touched her curled hair, letting the strands move around her overly manicured fingers. "You look like a boy. I think our gardener has a pair of overalls just like that. Let's leave the boys to their fights and go shopping. My treat."

"I'd rather put my head near the blade of a lawnmower." Erika picked her newspaper up. She wasn't sure what Ikki and Koji were fighting about now, but she'd seen Henry throw his broom down and rush over towards them, ready to take par as referee of a physical fight if it turned to that. "I happen to like how I'm dressed, it's…comfortable."

"It's boyish. Don't you want a cute boy to notice you?" Karin released her curls.

Looking back towards the three men across the park, Erika groaned. If that was what guys were really like, she was going to buy a cat. "Not really."

"How about a cute girl then?" Karin continued. She played with that damn curl again. Erika's eyebrow twitched, turning around fast to face the pretty rich girl who would interfere with her newspaper.

"What are you—" She stopped as tiny lips covered her mouth. The world around her seemed to freeze, the kiss from Karin prolonged only by a sudden hint of – was that pleasure she was feeling? When the redhead pulled away, Erika brought her hands to her lips, her wide eyes unable to pull away from the soft blue glistening with sweetness looking back at her. "Uh-um…" She subconsciously licked at her lips. What kind of berry gloss is she using?

Still smiling, Karin stepped back. "Come shopping with me?"

"Uh…um…" Erika couldn't find the answer flooding her lips, but her newspaper was in her book bag fast as she gripped at both the bag and the redhead she'd just kissed. Without notice from the boys, both girls left together.
