Lost and Found
He lost her once at blossom time.
The lonely hanyou stood and looked a the trees, past their bloom. The magic that had brought them together in such an incredible way, giving him back his life after he was pinned to the tree fifty years, teaching him to hope and how to learn to trust and care all through the year that he and Kagome searched and fought and argued and loved – he thought it would last forever. But when the magic let him bring her safely home to those who also loved her and who would help her heal after the long battle, it cast him off, bereft, locked out of her world, and he stood there, amid the rain of pinkish white blossoms scattering to the wind. To him, they were falling like the tears his heart was crying but that would not touch his eyes.
He found her once again at blossom time.
The magic which had kept them apart on two sides of the portal, that had stripped their hope down to tiny nubs scarred over with sorrow, relented one day when the blossom time came again. And as it called them back together and let him hold her underneath the blooming trees to renew the springtime of their love, the magic wrapped around them like the red thread of destiny. Sinking into their souls to knot the bond that would bind them forever as they stood under the spreading sakura branches, the magic celebrated the moment by decorating them in a rain of pinkish white.
