"Kate you're with me" the order was crisp through the bullpen.
The brunette looked up and exchanged the white aspirin bottle she clutched with her sig saucer. She slung her black back pack up over her shoulder and trotted to the elevator, managing to slide in between the closing silver doors just before they latched shut.
The silver doors latched shut, both sides moving in mechanical harmony to meet in the middle with a subtle click. The thin brunette let her back pack hit the silver floor and rested her aching head against the ice cold metal wall. The space between the two agents was no more than a formality. One of the many automatic responses they had to each other when at work.
The box came to a jerking stop. Kate reached down for her bag, to find that it was in her boss's hand. She was thankful, her stressed body ached. The tenses of her muscles caused by their all day shooting practice the day before caused her now growing headache.
The pair reached the silver government issued sedan. Kate slid into the passenger's seat on auto pilot; she hardly remembered walking to the car.
A fifteen minute silence later Gibbs pulled the car to a stop outside a quiet looking brick suburban town house. The brunette unbuckled her seat belt and reached for the door's inner handle when she heard the whispered order.
"Stop"
Kate settled back into her seat with a puzzled expression and a soft huff.
"Close your eyes"
The silver haired man's partner's eyelids fluttered close as the man beside her leaned forward. The silver haired man's tan rough hand settled on her forehead, the pressure just as soothing as the kneading his thumbs and fingers were doing. A second hand joined his first and calloused finger tips focused on the brunette's temples. Her sighs filled the car and the rich peppermint smell of her breath mixed with the coffee smell of his. The silence was soothing to both of them, when a shrill ring broke it. Gibbs leaned forward still and dropped a kiss on his partner's forehead.
"We'll take care of the rest of that headache later" he promised as he stepped out of the car and brought the interrupting metal device to his ear.
The brunette smiled as she joined him on his way to the doorway.
