My first Vampire Academy fanfic! Enjoy :)

I could barely see three feet in front of myself, and that was saying something since dhampirs had amazing vision. I knew Dimitri was on duty tonight so I had to be extra careful. While he might not report me to the Headmistress, his disappointment meant more to me than detention.

Peeking around the corner, I didn't see anyone so I quietly tipped toed close to the wall. I almost wished a guardian was here to see how stealthy I was being. The Moroi dorms weren't exactly the easiest place to break into. I found the drainpipe leading up the girls building and started to climb, using it as grip and my feet walked up the wall.

I was nearly at Lissa's balcony when someone hissed, "Rose!" Recognizing the voice, I fumbled for my grip and ended up sliding back down the wall. With a startled screech, I lost all grip and started to fall the two stories I'd climbed. Just as I prepared myself for hitting the solid ground, I was caught in a set of sturdy arms.

The force of my fall caused both Dimitri and I to go tumbling towards the ground. I landed on top of him with an 'oomph' but he didn't make a sound as he collided, even though he was taking the worst of the fall.

"What were you thinking Rose?" He demanded, rolling me to the side so he could stand up. He reached for my hand and gently helped me up.

"Shoot," I swore. I had ripped my pajama's on the drainpipe as I had fallen and now a large chunk of fabric was missing from the calve area.

"Rose?" Dimitri repeated, not sounding at all amused.

"Sleepwalking?" I ventured. I swear I heard him snort at my comment.

"Right. Should I be on the watch for some more wall climbing tomorrow night?" Unknown to him, he had actually given me a valuable piece of information. If I knew he would be on duty again tomorrow night, then I could try a different tactic again.

"What can I say? You're awesome lessons have taken their toll on me." I started to walk back to my own dorm, Dimitri falling into pace next to me.

"Rose, answer the question," he said sternly. I rolled my eyes at his demanding tone. He already knew that it would be unlikely I would tell him if I've already gone to these lengths to keep it from him.

"Rose, I don't want to report you," Dimitri sighed as we reached the door to my dorm building.

"And you won't," I said confidently, leaving him to watch me as I disappeared through the heavy doors. The moment I was back in my room I went to my window and tuned on my flashlight so the beam would flicker in Lissa's window.

I felt a tug through the bond and the Lissa's slightly sarcastic thought, "Caught again?" I turned off the light and then slid in between my duvet covers. I drifted into a dreamless sleep after running the plans for tomorrow in my head three times over.
