28: Flicker

--

The flame flickered and he stared.

He had forgotten.

It had been so long.

But it didn't feel like it.

Weren't these days supposed to be happy?

Every kid was supposed to look forward to these days.

And he was still a kid.

He would never be anything but a kid.

No matter how old he was.

He had forgotten.

He couldn't be a kid if he was that old, right?

He had forgotten, but his friend remembered.

His friend was always there for him. His friend always remembered.

Even if he didn't.

He made his decision.

The flame flickered, and he was gone.

End.
