A/N: I haven't done one in forever. Enjoy. I'll probably have another one up after spring break, when I get my motivation back.

When Jacob Black first meets Bella Swan, his heart grows three sizes too big. She isn't the most gorgeous girl he's seen, but there is a spark in her eyes that can light up an entire room. Jacob is drawn to her from the start and has been doomed ever since.

After Edward leaves, the spark from Bella's eyes goes missing. She tells Jacob about the hole in her chest and how it is like someone cut a six inch valley right where it hurts the most. Most days Jacob can't tolerate seeing how much pain she is in, but his smile never falters. He promises himself he is going to sew up her wound and ignite another flame in her eyes.

Bella isn't so surprised when she finds herself falling for Jacob Black. He isn't the most gorgeous boy she's seen (nothing can compare to Edward), but there's something in his smile that makes her heart flutter. He is patient with her and holds all of her pieces together with his large, warm hands.

After Jacob phases for the first time, Bella finds herself sinking back into her depression. She feels there is no hope when her savior abandons ship. She knows it is wrong to lead him on, but she can't go on living in a world without her sun. No one likes the darkness.

The exact moment Jacob realizes he is in love with Bella Swan, he is sitting in her car, and she is recovering from nearly drowning. Her hair is in tangles, eyes red from crying, dressed in Jacob's raggedy shirt, and she is the most beautiful thing Jacob has ever seen. His heart gets caught in his throat and he is surprised it has not burst from the sheer excitement at seeing her alive.

Jacob hates himself for answering the Swans' telephone. He should have just kissed her and she would have kissed me back, I know she feels something between us other than friendship. Now she's half-way around the world trying to save a corpse's life. It wasn't supposed to be like this.

He continues to run, his paws becoming one with the earth. Don't think. Don't feel. Just run.

Bella remembers the look on Jacob's face before she left. Brown-black eyes brimmed with tears, threatening to fall at any moment. She hates herself for what she's done; risking her life to save one person while harming another in the process.

She reclines in her airplane seat and closes her eyes, thinking of Jacob some more. He looked so sad. I'm hurting him. I'm saving Edward but killing Jacob in the process.

A silent tear falls down her cheek and she wipes it away before it leaves tell-tale signs. I don't need supersonic hearing to hear the sound of Jacob's heart breaking.
