Here's my first story – hope you like it! (Pretend that Tawnypelt doesn't already have a mate =P)
SPOV
I ran out of the ThunderClan camp, stiffing the air for the scent of prey. There was plenty – after all, it was Greenleaf. Brook was beside me, sniffing too, She immediately chased after a squirrel near by. She was getting so much better at Clan hunting!
"Save some prey for the rest of us!" I teased my mate, as she trotted back with the prey looking quite pleased. I nodded toward the hunting party, Brambleclaw, Squirrelflight, and Hollypaw. "We want to catch some, too!"
"You expect me to sit back and let the prey get away when it runs right under my nose?" Brook purred with amusement.
I sniffed the air again, and followed the new scent of a chaffinch. I found it, pecking along the ground. I quickly pounced and killed it in one blow. I buried it and moved on. It was good hunting.
Later we passed the ShadowClan border. I sniffed making sure the ThunderClan scent markers were fresh. They weren't – and I offered to freshen them. My Clan-mates kept on hunting, while I assured them I would catch up after.
I was just finishing one tree when I smelled ShadowClan – but it was familiar. Tawnypelt!
I rushed around the tree to meet the cat that journeyed to the Sun-drown-place with us, not checking if she was with a patrol. How clumsy of me! I quickly dived into some bushes, making a racket.
I sat still. Did they hear me? Was there more ShadowClan than only Tawnypelt there? I tried to scent them – but all I could smell was the bushes.
I decided to come out – why not? It was our territory. I slipped out of the bushes and shook myself. Then I looked up hesitantly.
It was only Tawnypelt!
"Tawnypelt!" I greeted. We both ran up to the border and touched noses. "How's the prey running in ShadowClan?"
"Great!" she exclaimed. We were both jumping around like kits. I stood still - I was a Warrior! But she didn't stop so I started jumping again too. "I haven't seen you since the Gathering," Tawnypelt added.
"Yeah, me neither!" I realized that I said the same thing as her. What was wrong with me? Why couldn't I talk right? "Uhh, yeah.... Duh." That was stupid too.
But she laughed, and I relaxed. It was always easy talking to Tawnypelt - even after the Great Journey. I noticed that we stopped jumping.
"Stormfur!" I heard the hunting party calling. "Stormfur!"
"Oh sorry, I gotta go," I sighed. She looked terribly sad. "I'll see you here sometime later?" I asked her without thinking. Then she brightened. I licked her shoulder, and then wondered if that was okay. I pulled back quickly. But her eyes were gleaming - so it was fine. "See ya later!"
"You too!" Tawnypelt told me.
I padded swiftly away. Once I caught up with my Clan-mates, I realized that I made plans to meet with a cat from another Clan. Oops. No matter how strong our friendship - it was still against the warrior code! Double oops. Nobody would find out about this.
I'll make the next one soon! StormxTawny rox! =D
