Words That They Couldn't Say
By SMYGO4EVA

Love at first sight was a concept to behold, especially with life-long friends who are boy and girl, but it is also a far-fetched concept too. When one expects to be an item after being friends for a long time, one would have to think about the consequences for rushing into love. Yugi Moto was Téa's first love, with his shining purple eyes and tri-colored spiky hair. They had been friends for a long time, and everything seemed to fall into place, but on the other hand, something didn't feel right about the very fact. Maybe it was too soon, even if a while could become forever. No matter what others would try to tell her, she knew it was love, being born from friendship.

Yugi never thought of Téa as his first love, but deep down, he always thought about it. It may have been obvious due to such closeness they shared, the secrets that they have uncovered with the Pharaoh and the close-knit group that they both were in exclusively. I suppose in a way they were 'fated' to be together, but due to many inconsistencies and secrets, it didn't come to pass. There were too many complications, and in another reality, it would only bring heartbreak and pain.

Yugi was the vessel of the Pharaoh, and he is taking over his body gradually to the point where there would be nothing left of Yugi. Téa knew she was in love with Yugi, but she always felt deep affection for the Pharaoh, who is only a more mature version of Yugi, the boy who captured her heart. It wouldn't have felt right if she revealed her feelings to the Pharaoh, because the shell he is in is Yugi's and that would have ended in disaster.

Love was a confusing thing, especially when beinmg blossomed from friendship. Just one glimpse and one would fall into the depths of affection. But it was doomed from the start; it wasn't meant to be. Friends were never supposed to become lovers, and if they did, one would just be besotted by the very idea of romance. One chose the light, and the other chose the darkness at the gift of power, when they should have taken the place of light where they belong.

Fate conspired against young Yugi Moto and Téa Gardener, since it saw no future for them in rose-tinted glasses. It only saw the past and the present, never the sought-after future. They were destined to go their own separate ways, and that would be the end of it. The only thing left would be words that they couldn't say.
