The first sign of possible extraterrestrial interference involving his immediate family members is when Karin skips down to breakfast at 6 in the morning, smiling, fully dressed and wearing a skirt.
Ichigo barely has time to gawk in horror before she skipped out the door, a slice of toast her only souvenir and a chirpy "Morning Ichi-nii!" as she dashed out the house, most likely to walk to the apparent education facility.
It isn't stalking per say – more like tactical observation.
At 2am.
Outside his sisters bedroom.
With Zangestsu drawn.
And a pair of binoculars.
Just in case…
His second theory of an alternate universe swiftly stampeded into mind the day a very disgruntled looking Hitsugaya showed up at the door ready to 'walk with Karin to school'
He suspects 'walk' means 'abduct' and 'school' is really just code for 'super secret reality warp machine'
Karin promptly told him to shut the hell up and put down the chain saw.
The first time Karin ended up in hospital Ichigo is horrified to find he was not the first person there, it wasn't like another presence was in the room when he arrived but it was obvious from the far away look of happiness on his sister's face and slight flush in her cheeks that either one of the doctors was in for a fistful or she'd been getting visits before…
It doesn't help that she seems to end up the hospital more and more after that…
"Its…moving…is it supposed to be moving!" she smacked him round the back of the head with a wooden spoon, a faint hint of colour on her cheeks – whether from the heat of the kitchen or the completely blatant failure now sitting on their plates.
"It's my first attempt so you better freaking enjoy it" he prods the charcoal like fossil on his plate and quickly becomes very interested in the ceiling and the delicate internal balance of his digestive system.
It hadn't been a very subtle move, the Shinigami representative realised, putting on 'Alien' for a family movie and glaring at his younger sister throughout the entire showing.
Perhaps Rukia was right…he needed a vacation…
When Karin thought she was alone, which she wasn't due to the alien abduction theory, Ichigo noticed a change in her – she sung quietly to herself, jigging her hips slightly to an unheard beat.
Her vocal skills sounded like a goose dying by the road side…
But it's so happy, so childish…so Karin.
The aliens are truly crafty buggers.
It's a disaster in the making…
Karin: who loves the idea of family and extravagant romances with lots of action and fighting, oh yes, the more bloody battles for love the better.
And Hitsugaya, who flinches at the mention of the opposite sex, stabs anyone who attempts to hold his hand and is rumoured to bury his fangirls underneath a plank of wood in his office…
So why on earth did the white haired captain keep coming back?
In retrospect, perhaps attacking Hitsugaya in hollow mode whilst the poor boy was in a towel was not the nicest thing to do…
But then again said captain did not need to freeze his entire bedroom in revenge, or kiss Karin, or be a stupid alien…
"Ichi-nii…" Karin muttered "would you mind telling the rest of us why you are prodding Hitsugaya with a spoon?"
