"There was nothing but silence from the very unexceptional human girl. I could hear nothing. Why?" –From the Stephanie Meyer-released version of the new Twilight book. I do not own this series, heck, I don't even own the books.
"Edward?" Jasper's voice filtered through the pound of music in my ears. The car ride home had been a long one, and I after talking with Alice and the others I was now packing my bags. It was my goal to leave as quickly as I could. Jasper knew this, so I figured that whatever he had to say must have been really important.
"Yes, Jasper?" I asked, politely.
"I just do not understand this. How could some mortal girl have such an effect on you? You've smelled people that appealed to you before."
"Yes, but I kept my self distanced from those people. This is a much more potent scent, and I don't think I can control myself at such close ranger. And besides, to add to that I cannot hear what she is thinking. Before, I could always tell what everyone was planning, where they were going to go; I could make it so I never had to cross paths with them. I could be running into her any moment, and if I was to corner her in some dark alley or abandoned wood, I wouldn't know if I could trust myself." And with this, the frustration I had been keeping inside of myself for the past hours exploded. I picked up a lamp and hurled it out of the large window. It landed with a thud several seconds later, and I shouted, "WHY CAN I NOT HEAR WHAT SHE IS THINKING?" In a fit of rage so forcefully Jasper looked almost scared.
But then, he got an idea. I heard it before he said it, yet didn't understand it at first.
"Maybe," he said. "She's just stupid."
Tada! You know your dead wouldn't be complete without some sort sarcastic Twilight character bashing. Okay, maybe it would be. Anyways, no offence to any of you diehard Twilight fans. I'm just kidding, get your fangs away from me.
