He ties a ribbon into her hair,

pink like lips and open skin,

the perfume of flowers high in the air.

---

With her wishes and her shoulders bared,

the summer heat and city din,

he ties a ribbon into her hair.

---

Under the steel kingdom's heavy glare

she let the smiling soldier in,

the perfume of flowers high in the air.

---

He wades through secrets she doesn't share

and tucking his hope behind his grin

he ties a ribbon into her hair.

---

His kisses carry the flavor of everywhere

her two feet, and hands, have never been,

the perfume of flowers high in the air.

---

Until his heartbeat tangles inside her prayers,

and in the silver shadow of two pulses beating thin,

he ties a ribbon into her hair,

the perfume of flowers high in the air.

Author's Note: I'm studying poetry in one of my classes right now, and it really got me in the mood to do this. It was definitely a challenge, but I'm glad I did it. And I hope you enjoyed it.
