"This is an unusual occurrence." Doumeki broke the silence between him and Himiwari, whom he was currently seated across from.

"Yeah, it's weird right?" She wasn't quite meeting Doumeki's eyes. "The two of us together, with no Watanuki-kun. It's beyond strange."

"We used to run errands for the teacher together." Doumeki pointed out.

"Yes." She said quietly. "That was before we knew each other well though."

"So, you were the one that asked me to come." Doumeki pressed on. "Why is that?"

"Right to the point, huh?" Himiwari smiled softly. "I like that about you. So I guess I should get to my point to." She paused and took a deep breathe. "Are you in love with Watanuki-kun?"

"…" Doumeki blanched, he hadn't been expecting that. The expression brought to his face, however small, was enough contrast from his usual look to tip Himiwari off. "Yes, completely." Doumeki said, looking into her eyes firmly.

"I thought so." Himiwari had to fight not to look away. Doumeki became very intense where Watanuki was involved. "That's why I called you to meet me."

"To confirm your suspicion about something obvious?" Doumeki asked.

"That also, but more it was to talk to you, about Watanuki-kun." Himiwari felt her heart pounding just thinking about Kimihiro Watanuki, the boy she loved more then anything. "I am in love with him to."

"I knew that." Doumeki said simply.

"I was sure you did." She nodded. "After all, I make no secret about how I feel. Even treating you equally with presents can't hide it right?"

"Not from me." Doumeki replied.

"However, I think we both know that I cannot be with Watanuki-kun." Himiwari's face didn't look quite as pretty with it's current expression; one of bitter sadness. "So, I surrender him to you, and I ask that you let me still hang out with you guys." Now her eyes were welling up. Doumeki thought it was strange how easily girls showed their emotions. Perhaps that was supposed to be one of the lessons of his early childhood dressed as a girl, but it obviously hadn't worked.

"You don't have to do that." Doumeki wanted Himiwari to stop crying. He liked her. She was one of his few real friends. Perhaps the only one aside from Watanuki. She was certainly the only girl who didn't hang around him because of his skills or looks. Himiwari liked Doumeki because they both loved Watanuki. It was a bond that was strange, but at the same time special. For that reason, Doumeki gently placed his hand on top of Himiwari's. "He loves you, not me."

"That's not fair though." Himiwari mumbled. Turning her hand up to hold Doumeki's. It was strangely comforting. "You're the one who saves him, protects him. All I do- All I've ever done to him- is hurt him. That's why, even being his friend is something that is too good for me. I'm just to selfish to give him up entirely."

"You're just as stupid as he is." Doumeki sighed. "Of course, you deserve to be his friend. It's enough that you love him." Himiwari looked up, with wide watery eyes. Then she smiled warmly.

"You're sweet Doumeki." Himiwari said with a hiccup, and her began tears abetting. Then she looked down at he hand in his, and she began to laugh.

"What?" Doumeki raised an eyebrow at the unusual outburst.

"I was just thinking, that if Watanuki-kun saw us like this, he'd get the wrong idea completely." Himiwari's laughter grew a bit.

"Yeah, he's pretty dense that way, huh?" Doumeki's lips twitched into a very gentle smile.

"Thank you for meeting me." Himiwari said after her laughter subsided.

"No, thank you." Doumeki said standing. Then he patted Himiwari on the back. "You're really a very good person Himiwari-san." With that Doumeki left the cake shop. Leaving a relieved Himiwari behind.
