Not Meant To Be
The snow was falling to the ground in soft piles, each unique snowflake mixing with its siblings to make an ordinary pile of white goop on the sides of the roads and on the sidewalks. The brunette Italian ran across the salted street and stopped in front of an old fashioned styled coffee shop window. He took off his hat and held it in his hands as he looked in the window waiting for the people in front of the door to scurry in. He focused more on the stores occupants; a shinning brunette in a gray pea coat, and a silver haired man in a black sports jacket. The brunette was obviously laughing, the smile on her face made out of cherry lips and bright white teeth was open and genuine, her cheeks were a light pink and her chocolate colored eyes were clouded with merriment; she had her hand on the arm of the man beside her as she looked up at him with a softer smile on her face. The man smiled down at her as her brushed her hair out of her face with a slow and worn hand. There wasn't a great amount of PDA not kissing or making out in the slow line to get coffee, they weren't even holding hands. But they were in love, it was in the quiet smiles, the silent touches. The way the man's eyes were only on her. Tony shrugged his shoulders as he turned and headed down the slushy sidewalk. He should've known it'd work out between the two of them, and in the depths of his heart he did know that they loved each other and that a relationship between him and Kate was never meant to be. So in his melancholy state he headed down the road in search of a different warm and cozy coffee shop, because he knew it was never meant to be.
