Disclaimer: Still not JKR. Have not quit my day job either since I make no money from this...
The Dark Lord Voldemort had been defeated by Harry Potter at the beginning of his seventh year at Hogwarts. Several wizards who were there at the battle swore Harry did it by casting runes. No one actually knew what the runes meant that he cast, but the evidence was clear; Voldemort was gone and Harry Potter was incredibly talented at Ancient Runes. Most people did not care about that fact, they were just pleased that he had done the job effectively this time and the second reign of terror known as Lord Voldemort was gone.
Of course there is always one or two people who think they are above the law. Or, maybe just that the law does not apply to them. Especially when a book that they want to read is involved...
Hermione huffed in disappointment at Harry as he sat in the arm chair beside the fire in the Gryffindor common room and refused to let her read the book he was using for Ancient Runes class. She was actually a bit angrier than she was letting on. That book was the reason he made not only a perfect score, but had also got all the bonus quetions on the last test.
She wanted, no she NEEDED, that book. As he closed his eyes and leaned back she grabbed it and started reading as she opened it. Then she didn't know what to do as he opened his eyes and looked at her. "You have just caused me to forfeit my life to the person who loaned me that book. I swore on my life that no human but myself would touch it."
Hermione's eyes flew open and she stared at him for a few seconds before shaking her head and laughing. "Good one, Harry! You almost had me going that time."
He stood up and took the book back from her. "No joke. Goodbye, Hermione. Tell everyone it was nice knowing you all."
This time she stood there open-mouthed as he gathered up his books and bag before walking out the door of the common room.
Bookworm is a thinking piece. It is not about Harry so I did not give much information on him. It was about Hermione being obsessed about knowing everthing to the point where she could not take 'no' as an answer. She has spent six years with Harry already and should know him rather well by now. So the point is; If he said, "NO." Why did she push the issue?By the time Hermione had come to her senses and raced out the door to chase him, Harry Potter had disappeared.
A/N:
And, yes, I know that a lot of people are frustrated with the story because they expected all the details and did not get them. This time around the details have to be filled in by a person's life experiences.
