Disclaimer: Naruto just keep growing hotter these days, don't you think? It's a shame he's NOT mine. -sigh-
A/N: Let us all hope that Kishimoto-sensei would provide more background story on these two.
There couldn't be more contrast personalities of two people so much in love than Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina.
They were like chalk and cheese. Between the two of them, she was more of a physical being, and Minato never objected with that. He was always a man with a few words, speaking more with his charming smile and calm attitude.
In their relationship, there were never too many pointless sugary words only meant for sweet nothings. Perhaps they were less verbally communicated than average couples usually would, but as long as they understand each other, by meaningful gestures and expressive body language, no more inane conversation's necessary.
And as you can guess, Kushina was the expert of said things above.
She never said she missed him; when she did, she simply kidnapped him right from the Hokage tower—she had her own ways of doing that—and let him know what she felt under the shadows of Konoha's secluded corners. Or,—when they didn't have much time—on top of his office desk.
Once, after gone for several weeks on a mission without telling her, he showed up on her front door with roses as red as her hair, hoping she'd forgive him. She greeted him by tossing away the flowers before jumping him right on the spot.
He never brought her any more flowers since.
She was boisterous, carefree, and the most independent woman he had ever known. Minato never actually popping up the question; he was worried he'd hold her back.
Thus he kept silent on that matter.
It was his day off, a rather hot one too. It grew hotter on her bedroom after they'd finished, but he only sensed cozy warmth as he lied beside his fiery, vivacious girlfriend, who was now tilting her head at him with an odd look on her face.
"You know what?"
Her most favorite rhetorical question. There's no more logical response than asking back 'what', obviously, so he did.
"I'm settling down," she said, smirking. "I've found everything I'll ever need, anyway,"
She eyed him naughtily, right from his foolish expression—though still sickeningly handsome—down to his still uncovered below part, the one that had kept her truly happy for the past few years.
"You mean..."
She rolled her eyes. "You know what I mean,"
"Uh—"he found himself lost for words.
This is it, then, isn't it?
He cleaned his throat unnecessarily before continuing. "Would you... do that with me, then?"
She chuckled. "You're not doing what I think you're doing, right?"
No ring, no cliché kneeling—who'd need them after all?
"You know I'm never good on these kinds of things," he shrugged. "Well?"
There was a moment of silence as the look of surprise showed in her face. Then she leaned in closer so that her nose was barely an inch from his. Her eyes twinkling.
"Sure," her grin broadened. "That'd be fun."
And with that she pulled the back of his neck, shutting the gap between them and proceeded to show him how excited she was...
...then multiplied it tenfold.
(So much for a proposal.)
