The Cirque du Freak

Featuring Edward Cullen, the Fake Vampire!

Summary: Edward and Darren Shan switch lives for several months, Darren travels to Forks, while Edward must prove himself at Vampire Mountain in the Trials of Initiation.

Chapter 1: The Switch

"Mr. Crepsley, I've been entered in something called the 'Vampire Exchange'," said Darren Shan, a half-vampire working at the Cirque du Freak, "Did you recommend me for this?"

"No, I did Darren; I thought it could cause some wonderful chaos!" The small man behind him said.

Darren jumped; he hadn't heard Mr. Tiny approaching behind him. He looked down on the small man and, as always, felt terrified of him. Desmond Tiny was short, with neatly trimmed white hair, and thick glasses. He constantly squeezed a small heart shaped watch that he kept in a pocket.

"Tell me Desmond, who is the other vampire that is being switched with Darren?" Darren's mentor, Mr. Crepsley asked, "Is it a recently blooded vampire, or someone more experienced?"

"Strange fellow actually, named Edward Cullen from America, displays some unusual abilities, even for a vampire." Mr. Crepsley was about to inquire more but Mr. Tiny had disappeared, probably to enjoy some natural disaster.

Meanwhile in Forks, Washington

"Edward, don't go I need you! Life isn't worth anything with out you!" shrieked a hysterical Bella Swan.

"Bella it's just for a few weeks, that little man, Mr. Des Tiny, said I just need to pass some tests to prove myself to other vampires." Replied Edward, his words came out sounding angrier than he'd wanted, and Bella began crying again, "Don't worry the teachers are used to my family being gone, and you'll have the new vampire to keep you company."

Edward gave Bella a swift kiss on the neck, and departed for Europe, and Vampire Mountain.

A/N: Ok this is my first story in a loooooooong time. I recently read Twilight and the Saga of Darren Shan, and this takes place between Twilight and Eclipse, and before the War of Scars trilogy in Darren Shan. Anyway both of those books are about Vampires but they are VERY different, I'll give details in later chapters.
