They Did It All Anyway

-

He was young, too young to loose the innocence of childhood.

His hands were small, too small to be stained with blood.

His experiences were few, too few to be trained as an assassin.

He spoke little, too little to explain his thoughts and feelings.

-

Yet they did it all anyway.

-

He was too young to graduate from the academy.

His hands were too small to use a kunai to slit throats.

His experiences were too few to be promoted so quickly.

His vocabulary was too limited to explain how it all made him feel.

-

Yet they did it all anyway.

-

Though he was too young they took away his innocence.

Though his hands were too small they taught him how to stain them red.

Though his experiences were limited they knew he would gain more.

That he spoke little was fine because he was Shinobi—a tool to be used.

-

And so they did it all anyway.

-

They made him a tool.

They gave him the skills.

They trained his body and mind.

They sent him on missions.

-

Genin at five, chunin at six, joinin at fourteen, assassin for life

They knew what they were doing, what they were creating, the need was great.

-

He was too young,

His hands were too small

He couldn't know what he would become

He was never given the choice to refuse, turn back, or stop.

-

Yet they did it all anyway.

-

After all he was a genius.
