"Ahh, Dad, GET OUT!"

Eric's eyes widened at the sight in front of him. Freezing where he stood, his mind went blank with what he should do. Gripping the doorknob tight, he backed out of the room and closed the door behind him. Was that… Julie and Matt? In bed? His daughter in bed with his football player? He had to toss that around for a moment to comprehend the scene that had just panned out in front of him.

He strode through the living room and back out of the front door, the crisp autumn air hitting his face hard. He couldn't even yell at her if he had tried. It was as if someone had ripped the vocal chords out of his throat.

Swallowing, he felt his saliva glands kick in full force and a wave of nausea sear through his stomach. It was a punch to his gut, a blow to his pride, but most of all, a sharp twinge of disappointment. What had he done wrong in raising her with the right morals? Hadn't he and Tami given her enough guidance to wait? Where was Ms. Saracen? Hell, even if she was there that time it wouldn't have stopped them at other chances to sleep together.

Glaring back at the house, he couldn't recall how or when he walked down the front steps of the porch. The brisk wind chilled Eric to the bone and he took in a deep breath to calm the urge to puke right there on the sidewalk.

He pulled his truck door open and slammed the door behind him. He wanted to beat down the steering wheel, but he held his anger in when he saw his oldest daughter, his pride and joy, exit the screen door of the house he would never view the same again. For a moment he wondered why she wasn't getting in, but realized the passenger door wasn't unlocked. Mashing his index finger hard into the button, he took some of his frustration out on that.

Julie's perfume overtook his senses. She didn't look at him as she buckled her seat belt and her blonde hair shielded her face from the painful glare he knew he was sending her direction. So many things were on the tip of his tongue, but he stayed silent. He and Tami didn't wait before marriage. Would that make him a hypocrite for getting so mad at Julie? At least he knew that he loved Tami when they took the extra step. He wasn't sure if Matt loved his daughter.

Eric was sure of one thing - He had to be one hundred percent sure of what needed to be said before anything was said at all. It was best to calm down before his actions got the best of him.
