As Kagome zipped through the halls, flapping her golden wings strongly, she bubble of joy escaped her lips as happy laugher. 'I'm so glad that I have such amazing friends now. I would have never fit in back home with Mama and Jii-chan and Souta with what I've seen and what I've done, and what I've become. Back in the Feudal Era, everyone saw me as a great hero, the Shikon no Miko, the slayer of the evil Naraku, someone to be revered and feared. Here I'm just Kagome, the young priestess with demon blood and child of Akatsuki. Even though my new family is haphazardly patched together of murderers and sociopaths, I am content to love them without condition and relish in the love that they return to me.'
Lost in thought as she was, the little dragonet flew directly into a platinum-haired heathen at top speed. "Ack! You little shit!" Hidan yelped as the pair of them tumbled to the ground in a tangle of limbs and tails. Kagome struggled to free herself, forelegs trapped between the dirty-mouthed Jashin worshiper's right shoulder and the stony ground.
"Ouch Hi-kun! Get off of me!"
"It's your own damn fault." Hidan sneered, then grabbed Kagome by her hind legs and stood with a wicked grin on his pale face. "I think Jashin-sama would appreciate the blood of a demonic holy child."
"I'd hate to turn you to dust, Hi-kun." Kagome let pink sparks jump between her claws in warning, singing the palm of Hidan's hand.
Hidan released her with another sneer, rubbing the purifying sensation out of his hand. "What in Jashin-sama's name were you doing flying through the base at that fucking speed anyways?"
"It's my birthday, and Sushi-san helped me make ice cream! I was getting everyone together so that we could celebrate together!" Here Kagome turned up her nose and flicked her tails in agitation. "But if you're going to act all sacrificial maybe I don't want to share my treat with you."
"Ice cream?" Hidan's eyes widened and he let out a little nervous laugh. "Of course I was only joking about the blood thing, Miko-chan. In fact, I have a present for you!" He pulled out a wicked looking blade from inside his cloak. It had jagged looking edges and a wooden handle that had been stained red in places. There were circles etched along the blade, each containing an upside down triangle and a substance that could only be dried blood was crusted into the design, making it contrast yet further with the darkly shining metal.
"Aww, thanks Hi-kun! You're the best! I've ever had my own dagger before!" Kagome smiled at the tall man, curling her serpentine body tightly around his chest.
"Feel free to always hold it by the blade and never put it in a sheath." Hidan instructed her carefully. "Actually, the only advice that I can give you is the pointy end goes towards yourself and I encourage you to run your hands over the edge of the blade often to check its sharpness."
"I will Hi-kun! Every day!" Kagome promised, reverting back to her childlike form to secure the naked blade to her waist.
"You will what?" Sasori seethed from behind Hidan, making the nukenin jump slightly. "Kagome, give me that. I'll not have you endangering yourself."
"No Sori-papa! This is mine! Hi-kun gave it to me for my birthday" Kagome protested, shielding the dagger with her body and hands.
"It's your birthday today? Why haven't I heard of this?" Sasori looked almost hurt.
"I forgot about it until yesterday when Uncle Tachi brought up my age." Kagome fiddled with the hem of her pink apron. "I didn't mean to make you sad, Papa"
"I'm not sad, Kagome-chan" Sasori rushed forward and scooped the little girl into his arms. "It wasn't your fault. But don't listen to anything Hidan says. You don't know where that blade's been and I don't want to see you hurt." Sasori lectured her sternly, the slightest bit of concern making itself known on his carefully carved face.
"Okay, I'll be careful…" Kagome acquiesced with a sigh, then perked up. "Do you want some ice cream? Sushi-san helped make it for me! I want everyone to have a chance to enjoy it!" She emphasized her words by spreading her arms wide with a sparkle in her silver-blue eyes.
"I would like nothing more than to celebrate your birthday with you." Sasori smiled slightly.
"I'll fucking grab Kakuzu and meet you in the kitchen. I've had enough of this shitty sappiness for one day." Hidan groused, stalking down the hall.
"Thanks, Hi-kun! Mind getting Zetsu and Konan as well?"
"Yeah, yeah whatever the fuck you want"
"C'mon Sori-papa! Let's go to the kitchen and get everything all ready!" Kagome squealed, racing back down the hallway, hand in wooden hand with her declared father.
And that's all for today, folks. Hope you enjoyed Hidan's present! This is turning more and more into a drabble series, eheheh, but I don't mind drabbleness. That just means more room for random misadventures!
Thank you so much for the reviews, follows, and favorites! I love you guys so much~

By the way, I attended Sakura-Con in Seattle this year! Second convention ever, and it was a lot of fun! I dressed as Pokémon Champion Cynthia and Velma Dinkley from Scooby Doo. Has anyone else cosplayed before? Leave me a comment of what you were! Costuming is soooo much fun~
