Chapter 52: Odd Truths
Godric closed his eyes and shook his head. Something was bothering him, but he didn't know what it was. Standing up, he exited the house as a way to distract himself. He looked around the field that the house was on and saw that it was rather empty. He had thought that the field would look different in the light. However, it appeared as if that wasn't the case. He sighed and stared off into the distance.
His mind began to focus on the mysterious thing that was bothering him. He still couldn't figure out what it was, but he knew that it was there. Suddenly, a sound drew his attention away from his thoughts. Spinning towards the sound, his wand slid into his hand. He stopped and stared at the person that was behind him. The person was Severus. A scowl crossed Godric's face. He then turned away and refused to acknowledge the man.
He was then grabbed and turned around. Severus was scowling at him. "We need to talk." Godric raised an eyebrow at the man. He didn't bother to say anything as he continued to stare at Severus. This was because he didn't want to talk to the older man.
Godric watched as Severus continued to stare at him. He finally sighed. "What is it that we need to speak about, Severus?" He was trying to figure out a way to get out of Severus' grasp. He also wanted to shudder as a feeling of warmth went up his arm. That bothered him. He then began trying to pry his arm free. "Just tell me and let go of me." Severus' hand tightened around Godric's arm.
Severus pulled Godric a little closer. "What is Lupin still doing here?" Godric stared at Severus. He hadn't expected the older man to ask that question. He had thought that Severus would say something scathing. That was more like what the man would do. Then again, he had also thought that Severus might have commented on their connection.
Godric kept on trying to free his arm. "I don't trust the man. So, I bound him to the house until I know whether or not he's trustworthy." Severus' hand fell away at Godric's words. This resulted in Godric falling to the ground in a seated position. A slight jolt of pain went through his body, but it quickly faded. He looked at Severus and saw that the man's mouth was hanging open. Godric's head tilted his head to the side and blinked.
Severus shook his head. "What do you mean that you bound him to the house? That…" Severus stopped. Godric watched as Severus' eyes narrowed. He then frowned at the older man. He wasn't sure why Severus felt the need to ask that question. He had cast the spell that Salazar had taught him. He didn't see any reason to be startled by that fact.
Godric stood up and brushed his backside off. "It's as I said. I bound him to the house. I don't want him leaving yet. I need to make sure that he won't be a problem." He then looked into Severus' eyes. The man was scowling.
Severus finally shook his head. "That shouldn't be possible. All of those spells were lost before the founders' time." Godric blinked at that statement. Yes, Salazar had taught him the spell, but he didn't see why it would be lost. In fact, he would have thought that there were modern versions of the spell.
Godric shook his head. "I highly doubt that it was lost. Salazar knew a lot of different kinds of magic. So, it probably wasn't lost until later." He then shook his head again. He thought that Severus was wrong about when the spell was lost. After all, Godric knew that history was filled with inaccuracies.
Severus scowled. "That is something that you can't say." Severus' scowl then turned into a frown. "Plus, it is a well-known fact that Salazar Slytherin specialized in old magic. This means that he could have found the spell." He kept frowning. Godric sighed in response to Severus' words.
Yet, Godric knew that he couldn't remain silent for too long. He looked Severus in the eyes and nodded. "All right, fine. I guess that he did teach me a spell that nobody else knows. But, let's stop talking about this." Turning around, Godric walked into the house. He felt that he didn't need to continue paying attention to Severus. The man had him questioning things that he never had before. However, he also had Godric focusing on his friends. He closed his eyes and pushed the thoughts away. After all, nothing ever came of focusing on the past.
A/N: Well, here's the chapter. Godric has learned something new. Hope that everyone enjoyed. Later.
