A/N: As I already mentioned I own no characters or the town of Forks. They belong to Stephanie Meyers.

Bella hopped into Edward's car cheerfully.

"So, where are we headed?"

"It's a surprise."

Bella could see a smile spreading across his face. She knew better than to try to wheedle it out of him. He could be so stubborn sometimes. They arrived at their destination quickly. Thankfully Bella was used to Edward's high speeds by now. As he pulled his silver Volvo into a parking spot she looked up to see where they were.

"No!" She exclaimed. "Edward, No! Ice-skating? I can barely balance while walking. What are you crazy?" Bella rambled on…

Edward placed a finger on her lips.

"You will be fine. I won't let you fall. I promise."

He opened his door, walked to the other side of the car and opened hers before she could blink. He took her arm and led her to the ice skating rink. Bella shivered. It was a chilly winter evening and the lit sign proclaiming "Forks Ice Skating and Arcade" winked in and out.

They walked to the front counter.

"Two tickets please." Edward flashed the young woman his usual brilliant smile. She seemed a bit flustered for a moment before she took his money and handed him the tickets. They picked up their skates and began putting them on. Edward insisted on helping Bella with hers. He looked up at her while his fingers moved fluidly over the laces of her old rented skates.

"You're going to love it."

He gave her a reassuring smile while leading her by the arm to the ice. She closed her eyes tight and concentrated on not crashing.

"Bella, look me in the eyes. I will not let you fall. I promise you that."

"Ok." She tried to smile a little.

The two glided along with Edward holding Bella's hands. His grace never ceased to astound her. She was surprised to find herself having a lot of fun. It was almost like running with him in the forest, but not at such dizzying speeds. After they had gone around in circles a few times Edward unexpectedly spun Bella around. She let out a little squeal and he pushed her against the railing and gave her a quick kiss. He didn't usually show such affection in public it left Bella blissfully speechless. She heard someone shout "Ewww! Get a room!" and looked up to see Eric skating away backwards with a goofy smile on his face. They both rolled their eyes simultaneously.

A slow song came on while Edward pulled her to the center of the rink. For once Bella didn't care that several people from school were staring at them. The whole world seemed to fade except for the two of them. The skated for another hour or so before packing their things and heading for the car. Bella pecked him on the cheek as he slid into the driver's seat.

"Thank you for tonight."

"It was my pleasure."

They were home in a flash. Bella hurried up to her room calling out "Night Charlie!" to the figure in front of the television as she passed. She changed in a flurry and flopped on her bed with a sigh. Edward was next to her before she knew it. He hummed her to sleep.
