Prosaic
AN: Ok, while trying to find a title for my Nicole-centered oneshot, I came across this word: prosaic. Reading the definition has given me an awesome Quogan/Quark idea. It'll be a short drabble: I hope anyways. So, I hope you enjoy. And yes, the meaning of this word will show up in this drabble/oneshot
Disclaimer: Don't own anybody. Nope, Dan does
Quinn could reflect on her past easily. She could easily picture every one of her boyfriends and compare them to other people.
The one boyfriend that stood out in her mind the most was her ex-boyfriend, Mark Del Figalo.
He was different, because he was her longest boyfriend, but he could be defined in one word: prosaic.
What does that word mean, you ask? Quinn's ex boyfriend, Mark, was a sweet guy but he was prosaic.
Prosaic had many meanings to it. But it pointed to one thing: dull. Prosaic meant dull, unimaginative, boring, lacking wit, so basically, he was dull.
Quinn couldn't argue with that. All throughout their relationship, though Quinn did love him at a time, he was just dull. He had no creativity. Quinn had always argued he 'showed fun in his own way' but really, she always thought of him as dull.
Quinn remembered their dates. They were always to the movies, or to Sushi Roxs. In the movies, Mark always kept his hands to himself and watched the movies. He never held her hand, whenever Quinn got scared at a scary movie and cuddled up to him, he would flinch but awkwardly wrap his arm around her.
Mark always talked about boring stuff during dinner. Quinn hadn't minded it when she dated him, because she was too deeply in love with him, but now, with her new boyfriend outshining her old, she could see she was wrong.
Mark wasn't romantic. He was sweet in his own way, but romantic, no. He was definitely prosaic, boring, dull.
Now, with her new boyfriend, she could compare him with Mark.
Now, the movie nights, instead of feeling like she was with just a friend, it morphed into a boyfriend night, with kissing and holding hands.
The dinners turned from lousy to fun and laughable.
The nights in her dorm room turned from studying to slacking.
The walking around campus turned from small smile and talking to grin and laughing.
The kissing quickly turned to making out.
The small unshining brown eyes turned to big, warm chocolate brown.
The short brown hair morphed into curly sandy brown.
The chubby boy quickly was shaped into a skinny one.
The prosaic personality was changed to a convivial one. A fun-loving one.
Finally, Mark Del Figalo's name was quickly replaced by Logan Reese.
Mark's lips completely forgotten while Logan's were on hers.
There were definitely differences between Mark and Logan. But there were also similarities, starting with she loved both of them. Though Logan was different than Mark, Mark also had some better traits than Logan, for example, Mark was definitely nicer than Logan.
But Quinn didn't care. Both these boys had a big impact on her life. Even though Mark was prosaic, Quinn wouldn't want him any other way. She wouldn't change her and Mark's past for the world.
Because of Mark, Quinn found her true soulmate. And that's the most important thing. Quinn still liked Mark, but in a brotherly way. Maybe that was all they were supposed to be all along.
Ok, wow, I guess it was shorter than I though it would turn out. As you know, I'm a rambler, so I though I'd ramble all along, but I guess I didn't.
I really hope you liked it. I sure did. And don't worry, more stories will be coming from me shortly.
